They seem to be struggling mightily with their search. At what point do they just take a name and deal with the fallout of criticism

No. No one other than some desperate lower tier team like Boston College would hire him at this point.

Doubt he leaves for Penn St but if they lose there's a chance it's back to back seasons with no playoffs, that put him on the hot seat next year. Also, he has IMMENSE leverage in contract negotiations with Penn St right now. They're so backed into a corner he might be able to finesse them out of 150.

Already swung and missed with Urban. Hartline just took another job. Gruden isn't an actual candidate for a real job except with people on the internet. Tomlin is a NFL coach.
