I would not be urging my son to make a decision based on money. But I have never been broke.

Player development for NFL future> short term pay day.

Most of these kids have similar money offers regardless

I wonder why the vast majority of the Top 100 players signed today while ours did not?

Not everyone views their child as a meal ticket. Clearly you would

Are you really questioning that?

LSU is becoming an academic bottom-feeder in the SEC. At least our football program will remain well-funded.

Hard work always pays off. If you want something, put in the work. Rise above the doubters, that’s what I would tell my son.

There is no shot in assuming that you will make it to the pros. Most athletes do not...so I'm not going to try and persuade to him about this school vs that school (assuming that it is big time football like at LSU). We will review packages offered at his top ranked schools and make a decision.

For the development is only thing that i'm going to focus on people...nope, not going to lie to him about that and say that I know what this coach vs that coach can do. That will be based on you and how you go about doing the work required to get to that next level.

Whatever you make, we will take 75% of that and stash it away in investment vehicles that can preserve and grow it over the next few years.

This isn't the real world.

Aside from that, you don't think they've put in hard work to get in a position to dictate where they play ball?

if you’re a top 300 recruit then obviously you’ve been gifted some abilities. If your goal is to be a starter at a certain school and you’re getting a no, then don’t give up. Work hard and keep your goal for another year.

.

You’re going way beyond my meaning with a low blow. Good for you.

All I’m saying is it would be a question any father would ask his son. Not being the primary decision maker. And people on this board calling out recruits(my son is a meal ticket for me!), simply because he’s waiting to sign. , without knowing all the facts. It’s wrong. Also given our coaching uncertainty.

Yes. We had some of them say they were all in and now a huge number are delaying signing.

Is is money? Is it a certain coach they want? Is it related to the rumors around a certain coach?

We just landed a major catch for HC.

I think it is reasonable to ask what changed someone like Lamar Brown who met Kiffin when he got here and was all in to decide not to sign today.

As of now it's uncertain that defensive coordinator Blake Baker will be here. I'm sure that's a huge part of the delay on someone like him.

If it was my son, and he was good enough to have competing offers, I would encourage him to play at Stanford, Northwestern, Vandy, Duke - some really good school that he wouldn’t get into without athletics.

I've been broke and I still wouldn't urge him to make a decision solely based on money.

That said, if we're talking several hundred of thousands of dollars, with certainly no guarantee of pro ball (not to mention the health risks with playing pro ball for more than 1 contract), the money discussion would definitely be had.

First off, it's really his money, not yours.

Secondly, explaining compound interest to him and what he could do investing a couple hundred grand at his age is a fun discussion.
