Is it me or is Ken Burns losing his gift for documentary film making?

I got through the first episode and was disappointed how much focus was on Indians and Slavery relations.

There’s so many untold stories from that time period that led to the signing of the declaration of independence.

It has straight bullshite in it, like when it says the indians had democracy before European settlers came.

Burns is just a leftist propagandist now. His doc about how white Americans did the holocaust was a real low point. His daughter will be more of the same.

I was also disappointed how they treated John Adams as a foot note. He is the most interesting person of the founding fathers and was barely talked about.

Stop watching Ken Burns. He's a grifter for public TV.

If you made it through the first episode you lasted longer than I did. And fwiw I loved his documentaries on the Civil War and the one on baseball

I hope his next documentary will be about the Indians that fought with the confederacy.

Just kidding. We all know he won’t touch that.

Well, the Haudenosaunee, known as the Iroquois Confederacy, a confederacy of six Native American nations in the northeastern U.S. and Canada, did influence our early founders w/ it's three branches, etc.

Of course [as pointed out by Matt Walsh], Ken ALWAYS points to the passive, ... to non-specifics - cherry-picking portions of history. In this 'Great confederacy, created 200 years before ours, the women elected and removed male chieftains [one branch]... Ken forgets to point out these women were 'class driven', much like Indian [the country] caste are still today - hardly what one would call democratic/representative.

Much of it is good, then every 20-30 minutes or so, Ken goes off the rails.

According to him America would have been a failed experiment without balck and brown people building and defending America.

I guess when you look at how evolved Africa is without the assistance of whites it makes sense.

It's literally as bad as a Netflix production like Bridgerton.

I saw the series. He portrays the whole revolution was about freedom to settle land that belonged to the Indians. Of course it dwells on the part of white, land owning males as the most to gain. I guess Liberty was just a made up concept and the last 250 years were just a myth.

They weren't a myth, but why the idea of liberty became a political force in the enlightenment (e.g. you don't really find it in the medievals) invites explanation.

Correct… wow, I am impressed… What a rich and full life you must lead, to be able to pay such close attention to the comings and goings of various strangers on Tigerdroppings……..

But yeah, I am the “clown” who still pays taxes in America despite not living there… Fun fact, did you know that there are only two countries on earth that require their citizens to pay taxes, whether they live and work there or not? One is the United States… The other is a small African nation that I had never heard of before learning about this stupid rule .. and I guarantee that I pay more taxes in any given year than your sorry arse, so enjoy being a “taker”, while am “giving“ my hard earned money to a country I managed to escape from…. You’re welcome .
