Trump Cut Tariffs On These Five Foods. It’s Too Late To Stop Price Hikes

When the Trump administration announced it was easing tariffs on a slew of agricultural products, the goal was to appease consumers who are sick of dealing with rising grocery prices.
But though the reduced tariffs could help ease the rate of inflation for foods Americans rely on, it’s unlikely that shoppers will see significant price reductions in store aisles.

“Once prices increase, especially for a broad category like groceries, very rarely do they come down,” said David Ortega, a food economist and professor at Michigan State University. And retailers are hesitant to adjust prices too much with things up in the air. “There’s so much uncertainty with tariff announcements coming on and off.”

So after years of saying that tariffs don't raise the prices for consumers MAGA is finally understanding that tariffs make costs go up?
It's a start.
It's a start.

Like the past 4 years of double-digit grocery price increases?

Trump campaigned on lowering grocery prices. Sans eggs they have gotten worse. Far worse.

I've seen significant price reductions in milk, eggs and decent on chicken. Now, I don't eat coffee rubbed ribeye every day- but I didn’t eat it every day before either.
I will say I'm sad that Pepsi going back up made me sad.

Beef, Butter, and Bacon were all cheaper under Biden than they are now. Eggs are the only thing I eat that are currently cheaper. You lord and savior has been a disaster not only for people that eat healthy like me but for the junk food lovers like yourself also.

If only people believed scientists (economist market research analysts. Data scientists) not trying to get elected over politicians.
Politicians in all parties just want your vote so they can get in power or stay in power for own gain.
Media helps the politicians.

Food inflation in 2025 is projected to be around 3.0% overall in the US, a rate slightly higher than the historical 20-year average.
Under Biden it more than doubled the historical average.

Beef is high... butter isn't so bad and it's not a "food" food, and I don't eat bacon.
Milk is $1.06/gal here.

Not exactly true. Beef has skyrocketed, but that has nothing to do with tariffs.
Dairy has stabilized. Grains are international commodities and fluctuate.
Why would you think that 4 years of gross inflation can be overcome in 9 months? An argument like that is straight out of Rules for Radicals.
Sorry you don’t like or understand capitalism commie.

I tend to agree, but I use it to pump up the protein count in my shakes.
1g/1oz is a good filler for protein shake.

I'm not a muzzie or a jew... I just don't eat food that doubles as a trash compactor.
I like pigs, had one as a teenager.

My son is the same way. He loved bacon as a toddler but around age 6 he decided pigs are on the same level as dogs and he wouldn't eat a dog. So now he won't eat pork. He has no problem eating other dead animals.

My turn around came in my late 20s or early 30s... one fine day I just didn't desire pork. Used to LOVE it... I'd get Heavenly Hams for my birthdays in lieu of cake and presents.
