Ok, so GM is apparently working in new engines for 2027,but are the 2026s still potentially plagued by the same issues or did they tweak any software for the AFM/DFM ? Cant seem to find any definitive answers searching da web.

2026 MY has been pretty much a “carryover” year, with minimal changes. Supposedly, 2027 will be a new generation of trucks, and 2028 will see the SUV’s changing…

I have been hearing rumors that GM will drop the 5.3 for an all new 5.7 for 2027.
No changes for 2026 as far as I know.

Wouldn't touch any new truck or engine until manufacturers iron out quality control issues. Watching tear downs of various low-mileage failed engines and the issues are across the board. Not only defective designs but poor machine work and assembly problems. GM V8 blocks look like they were decked by a crackhead with an angle grinder. Toyota's turbo V6 with spun main bearings (definitely not just debris left in the engine, this is a fundamental machining failure), Ford and Stellantis with plastic everything. Nope, no interest in anything new these days.

The last year before a revamp is the most tweaked version and most likely corrected version.
I would not lament this.

Wish I could buy a brand new 90’s truck. I’m not interested in half the bullshite they put in trucks today.
Yeah, yeah, old man yells at cloud. I don’t care.

But then you couldn’t get the electric tilt and trim steering wheel with a/c & heat

Yeah but the 90s ones had an AC vent pointed directly at your balls. That counts for something.

New ones have little holes in the seat that blow cold air on your junk and crack.
It's glorious and I don't think I could ever go back.
