UFC 323: Merab vs Yan (12/6/25, 5PM CT)

Don't look now, but we've already got ourselves another numbered fight card this week--the last of the year and the ESPN era!
My picks in bold.
A few storylines heading into the card:
Will the upstart Van be ready for the big championship lights, or will it be a case of too much too soon?
Where does Pantoja go after yet another win in the division? The only semi-interesting matchup seems to be against another relatively untested fighter in Tatsuo Taira, who I'm sure isn't on this card just by happenstance. Will we see a move to Bantamweight for a Merab superfight in the near future? Pantoja claims to not want it, but who else is left for him?
Will this be Cejudo's final fight? Will Payton Talbott get a number next to his name and become a true prospect?
Will Maycee Barber's fake tits make weight and will she actually make it to the cage?
How does Marvin Vettori bounce back from that career-altering beatdown by Fluffy?

This is the one I’ve been looking forward to. Pantoja is making a case to be the goat of the division but Van’s last two fights have been absolute all timers. Dude is a hell of a boxer. Hopefully this is an all timer too. Just hope Pantoja doesn’t have them on gone ground all night. So pumped for this one.

In related news, I'm starting to see Paramount+ promos for the UFC. Looks like they're starting out with a $7.99 base subscription ($2.99 for the first two months if subscribing by Dec. 2).
I thank Paramount for making an honest man out of me.

Great card. A lot of people will shite on it because of the small guys but a lot of game mfers on this one, especially the last 3 matchups

I got 2 future bets. One on Merab 100 to win 285. Van 200 to win 1k. Let it ride or hedge? I hedged 322 and left 1300 on the table. Kind of regret it.

The $7.99 price has ads, without ads it's $12.99. I'm signing up tomorrow to get the first two months at the special $2.99 price.

Wish I could help you with that one. I'm not a betting man.

From my limited understanding, I think all Paramount live events will have ads.

You are probably correct as they will want to capitalize on that revenue stream. I meant more about watching other shows on the app with or without ads.

I’d let it ride for both but be ready to cash out on van depending on how the fight plays out. He could easily rock merab early

Now if they can change the gloves to reduce eye pokes, it would be great.

yeah I like it. nothing like attending an event on the east coast and walking out at 1 in the morning to fight traffic somewhere like miami.

This issue could be reaching critical mass with what's been going on with Aspinall. I think the ultimate solution is updating the MMA ruleset to require an immediate point deduction for a confirmed eye poke and a forfeiture for a second instance. Once that happens, the fighters will start training to keep their hands closed.

Can't wait for the end of the PPV era and the beginning of Paramount era.

Really like The Hulk tonight. His last two fights were dominant after losing to Abus.

If Henry Cejudo doesn't win tonight, that's embarrassing for him. It would mean that Raoni Barcelos beat Payton Talbott and he couldn't.
Also, why didn't he rematch the guy who eye poked him?
For the most part in the UFC, immovable object beats unstoppable force. I think Pantoja takes Van to the ground and completely neutralizes him. It's been a running thing with Pantoja now where they come up with some hot new prospect that's supposed to be able to beat him, and he takes it personally as an insult and goes out there to prove a point. Takes a lot to faze him too, that elbow that Erceg hit him in the head with was super hard. Pantoja just felt his head to make sure the brainbox was still intact, and then he went back to work.
Over-under on whether Merab shoots more times tonight than he did the first time vs. Yan? It was like 50 times or something. I think Merab fights a different fight tonight, shows off the progression, and I see him winning. Yan is good but I can't remember his last fight, Merab has been more active and is more dynamic than Yan.

Why didn't Herzog reset the fighters? He's so bad.
