Was just diagnosed with Rosacea. My primary prescribed me Metronidazole cream, which is just making my face even more red. I'm using gentle facial cleansers and moisturizers while I wait to see a dermatologist. Have any of you had any success managing this? This is freaking awful

I don’t know about rosacea, but I’ve had some sebaceous dermatitis at various times in my life that presents similarly and is really annoying

I just wash my face with dandruff shampoo regularly and it knocks it out

Sorry you’re dealing with that, it’s a real pain in the arse. Hope it gets better, sincerely.

Dermatologist is the best bet, fought it for a while. Tried several types of creams but they had little effect, finally they prescribed a a blend of a bunch of creams and it is nearly invisible.

You can also talk to your Dermatologist about your diet, things like red wine can cause flare ups.

Good luck

There’s a head and shoulders with tea tree oil that works well

I’ve also tried Selsun blue with the red or purple label

I’m not sure how similar yours is to mine but the regular hair washing and face washing (especially if you have a beard) helped me out

The best thing I have ever used to treat my psoriasis, is an Xtract laser, light therapy.

That does not treat Rosacea, however I know there are some lasee therapies that do. It won't help you now, but wanted to mention so you could ask a dermatologist when you see one.

I been using AmLactin lotion on my face for the last 3 months after I shower and haven't had any issues with it flaring back up.

Game changer for me. Someone recommended using Head and Shoulders. I use the two in one. A big difference in redness and dryness. Still see some minor flare ups…typically in winter. But nothing like i experienced prior.

So just to confirm, you guys are using head and shoulders shampoo on your face? That's interesting, haven't heard that one yet

I'm working on this. I know certain foods, especially spicy foods, are triggers

I was a mess and still getting adult acne, which was starting to leave marks, which had never happened before. Before my rosacea diagnosis, I was going to clinics and getting IPL treatments. They were OK, not great, but I think that is more for brown spots (not redness and red spots). I finally went to a dermatologist and they diagnosed me with rosacea. For a while, I used some kind of stinky sulfur wash (Sulfacleanse?) and Soolantra (ivermectin) cream, and I think I took some antibiotics for a while. I don't use any of that anymore. I mostly just wash with Neutrogena oil free acne wash cream cleanser. But, I think the key is good sunscreen every day. I buy Skin Medica total defense and repair. Those two things seem to have kept the rosacea down a lot.

Minocycline 100mg daily is the only thing that has worked for me.

I use a three phased approach recommend by my dermatologist. Ivermectin cream, sulphur face wash, and doxycycline oral pills. Greatly improved mine and would probably be totally gone if I didn’t drink and eat spicy foods.

It’s a fking curse that randomly started about a year ago for me (age mid-40s.) I don’t drink or eat spicy foods and my BMI is 20. I have to scrub my face daily to exfoliate and if i miss a single day it’s bad. I’ve been using this neutrogena combo of sulfur and calamine, and Retin-A cream about once weekly. It sucks.

Are these prescriptions or OTC stuff I could pick up?
