Is Jimmy Buffet a Top-5 All-time MS Born Artist?

I think he's certainly behind Elvis, Jimmie Rodgers, Conway Twitty, and then you have all the Delta blues guys (BB, Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters). NTM Tammy Wynette, Faith Hill, Chris LeDoux and I'm probably missing some.
MS is small state but it's produced more than its fair share of influential musicians.

Yes he was bigger than just the music. He created a new genre. He is number 3 on that list with Elvis and BB 1 and 2. Anybody who says otherwise can’t be taken seriously.

You can't be taken seriously if you think Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, and Howlin' Wolf are greater music artists than Buffet? LOL. He's a gimmick musician who found a niche for drunk white people who have shite taste in music.

I love Jimmy Buffett and his music. But, I do not believe he is in the top five musicians from the state. Look at all the Delta Blues musicians, I'd believe those cats take the top five spots.
Now, Buffett is certainly the most financially successfully musician from the Sip.

If you take this approach (discrediting music because of its appeal to a certain demographic only or its association with liquor/drugs), you would discard a lot of good music. For example, Hendrix - his appeal was largely to hippies on drugs. I don't downplay his influence on rock guitar, but I never listen to his music anymore.
As for Buffett, I think he is definitely behind Elvis, Jimmie Rodgers, and Conway Twitty. Then I think you have to include the blues legends (as least a few of them). IMO, Buffett is not top-5.
To his credit, he captures the ethos of the Guld Coast like no one else in songs, e.g., Biloxi.

The guy is a marketing genius, and he has a few good songs (Banana Republics being one) but he isn't on the same level with the old blues guys, BB and Bo Diddley. Add Elvis and that is five there.
