Just saw this tonight and it blew me away. Was fantastic. The writing, the acting, the cinematography, the soundtrack. And it’s a Christmas movie to boot. Definitely recommend it and cant believe it slipped past my radar for so long.

If Rushmore and Sideways had a child it would be this film… in a lot of ways it carries more emotional depth than either of them.. and Rushmore is one of my all time favorites.

One of the most amazing parts of that project is that Dominic Sessa was a theater student at one of the high schools that served as a location and was cast very late in the process. Film almost pushed because of it.

And he held his own with Paul and then some in his first professional gig.

One of the best alternative Christmas movies there is. Just stellar.

It's a fantastic movie. It also has one of the best insults: "Hardy, I have known you since you were a boy, so I think I have the requisite experience and insight to aver that you are and always have been penis cancer in human form."

I thought it had Catcher in the Rye elements in it as well. Focus never misses it seems. Didnt they do lost in translation as well

Makes sense… the off color dialouge and banter make remind me of sideways.. that at the camera shots while theyre driving

It’s in my rotation of Christmas movies it’s in the top 5.

Wonderful wonderful movie. I’m loved with a decent family and wonderful in-laws and don’t have to deal with the pain that this depicts but it hits home every time.
