Per 247 mods citing the timing doesn’t work for all parties.

Interesting for either Florida or Auburn maybe.

Also may or may not being interesting;

Sumrall was on Jim Rome yesterday and said he talked to Lane this week.

Why? If there's potential for the OM job to open up (there is) and your potentially interested in the job (he is), why wouldn't you talk to the HC as part of the due diligence process?

Lane hasn't been focused on the job in weeks. What's another 30 minute phone call?

It could mean that Ole Miss or Sumrall believe Lane's not leaving.

If Kiffin's last day is Saturday - which everyone is saying it is - the timing comment makes no sense.

By all accounts, Ole Miss doesn't unless he signs an extension.

It is a data point that Sumrall is now off the board when most OM people believed he was the most likely guy to replace Lane if/when he left.

Between Golesh (another guy linked to the OM job) and now Sumrall moving on it does make me wonder just slightly.

Think it’s an Ole Miss issue.they are not allowing Kiffin to coach playoff if he’s leaving. Presumably they’d want Sumrall to come right away. He has said he will coach Tulane in playoff and it’s a non starter to make him leave early.

So if ole Miss demands he come right away then that could be timing issue. Auburn supposedly would allow him to coach out Tulane

Golding has said multiple times in interviews he doesn’t want to be head coach.

Thank God
