A third Kentucky infant has died from pertussis within the past 12 months, according to a Nov. 24 news release from the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a highly-contagious respiratory infection officials say has been spreading throughout the country “in part due to declining vaccination rates.” As of Nov. 19, 566 cases of whooping cough have been identified in Kentucky, and officials anticipate more cases before the end of 2025.

quote:

To prevent whooping cough, officials recommend individuals receive the Tdap or DTaP vaccine, which protects against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. Infants can get the DTaP vaccine when they are two months old, and pregnant women can receive the Tdap vaccine to provide early protection for the baby. “KDPH confirmed none of the infants who died of pertussis in Kentucky over the past 12 months had been vaccinated, nor had their mothers,” officials said. “Kentucky’s three infant deaths from whooping cough are the commonwealth’s first whooping cough deaths reported since 2018.”

That's sad. Poor kids never had a chance simply because they were the offspring of idiots.

I read this a dozen times and still don't understand. Are you under the impression Kentucky is a Democrat state?

At the same time Kentucky state legislators passed laws since 2017 that no longer require a doctor’s signature for vaccine exemptions, have expanded exemptions for daycares and schools, and reduced public health funds that are typically used to promote childhood vaccinations.

Well are we pro choice or does that only apply in regards to abortion?

Dumb not to. It’s an actual proven vaccine.

Covid vaccine? Not really a vaccine. They changed the definition for it to be marketed as one.

I’m a firm believer that the only exemptions for childhood vaccines (outside of COVID) for daycare or school settings should be medical.

But I’m not sure what abortion has to do with this exact topic. If you want to use that whataboutism, you could also ask if you want happy, healthy families why shouldn’t we promote childhood vaccination?

I think if you can chose whether or not to abort, you should have a choice on what vaccines your baby is exposed to and when.

There's great vaccines, and there's ones that are completely unnecessary. Parents should have a choice as long as they are actually educated on all points of view.

I thought it would really difficult to parse through them, but it actually wasn't that tough. Having a straight shooting pediatrician really helped too.

The vaccine in the OP is one you should get.

And in this case you should be reported to CHFS for not properly vaccinating your child from a communicable disease that is dangerous to the public. IMO that is textbook childhood neglect.

Someone choosing to have an abortion is apples and oranges from choosing to vaccinate their children.
