any coach with a brain should avoid LSU like the plague. Our leaders act like fools.

tell me you know nothing about the situation, without telling me.
LSU has done nothing but improve its position in terms of buyout settlement. BK is having to wage war in the courts and have woke ESPN authors write puff pieces to help his cause.
LSU looks to be on the cusp of hiring their number 1 target.
LSU has not been harmed one iota in this, despite the pearl clutching from the national media.

LSU is doing this because they know he won’t seriously look for another job even though his contract says so. Stop listening to the dumbasses in the national media. This is the only real shot they have to reduce his buyout.

These coaches arent risk averse. In fact most are the opposite.

The damage that this fight is doing to the university far outweighs the money they will save.

It's not a fight. It's negotiation. LSU is leveraging for a lower settlement. BK is leveraging for a higher one. The effect of this case hurt LSU before because it made us look poor. The Lane negotiations have reversed that thought now the numbers have been leaked.
It's all posturing and BK must be feeling the pressure because his stuff is leaking to the press about how hard it is for him to find a job when the only one he's been tied to isn't even open yet (Mich. St.).
Hopefully they will settle up and both parties move on, but right now there is no reason for LSU to expedite it. LSU is perfectly fine with status quo of paying him out monthly through 2031 if needed.

It's ok, non-idiots know they're just negotiating the buy out.

This situation eventually will be settled and soon forgotten. In fact, most people have already moved on even without a settlement. There is no damage to the university. Also, offering a lump sum payment does not necessarily save the school money. There is time value to money and there is the potential offset for future employment that would be foregone. Penn St only owes Franklin $8M now that he signed for $41M with Va Tech. This is about certainty and closure, not trying to be cheap.

he was fired because he could not win, not for cause. His faults would be overlooked if we had made the playoffs. LSU is not dealing in good faith.

LSU has Kelly by the balls . Kelly wants to coach , but can't because of an unresolved settlement. Kelly also doesn't want this case to reach discovery where there is a decent probability nasty things will be revealed that could preclude Kelly from ever coaching again. Take the 30 million Kelly, you're 64 yo , and go coach at a FCS School
