TO CLARIFY: I NEED SOMETHING SHE CAN LEARN WITH, AND FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WHEN SHE GOES TO COLLEGE

Daughter has shot mainly 22s and my 9mm a few times. We don't need something particularly small, but concealable if necessary in the future .

I'm concerned that nine maybe too much too soon, so I'm thinking 380 or 30 super carry. Don't want to spend more than $4-500 bucks.

Thoughts

My thoughts are 16yrs old is maybe too young to have a pistol on her. Mace or possibly some sort of taser yes.

If word gets out she has one (you are openly talking about it here for instance) is she mature enough to not cave in and show it off or when the boys see it and wanna shoot it.

Maybe she’s way more mature than the 16yr olds my son hangs out with but seems a tad young in my opinion and I mean no disrespect saying this.

Is this a troll? A 16 year old cannot conceal carry obviously.

I don’t know the laws in LA but in SC she can carry when she’s 18 with or without a license. She can have it in her home though for self defense, she just can’t carry it until 18.

Agreed. Or that she doesn’t accidentally go to school one day forgetting that its in her purse and then get into a whole load of trouble.

Pepper spray is probably the way to go for a high school girl.

18 is the minimum legal age to CC in LA. While CC permits are no longer required in LA, she may need a permit for reciprocity purposes if she plans to CC when she travels out of state and the permit age is still 21

She can't even carry in Louisiana at that age. This just feels like a troll

My 11 year old daughter is 4'10" tall and weighs about 75 pounds and she never leaves home without her 10 - 1/2" SW 500...I wouldn't go with anything smaller than that.

a 16 year old girl with raging hormones that she sometime can't control definitely needs a handgun with her

I got the 44 mag Deagle for my grandson when he was ten years old. I thought the 50ae would be a bit much. He carries it in his bookbag backpack with two spare mags and a five inch SpyderCo.

Obviously you should follow the law. Because criminals always obey the law too.

But if you were to move forward, a S&W revolver is pretty fool proof.

I bought my wife a "lady smith" when she first started carrying.

It is simple and reliable. No FTF issues if it is not held properly like with semi autos.

I have the same for my wife and mother for the same reasons, but I love the little gun myself and carry it often

This is good troll work. Should have said you were moving from Oxford, Mississippi.

I will leave it to others to address whether it is legal or even a good idea to arm your 16 year old daughter with a pistol.

BUT, if you do, you have a fatherly responsibility to consider what pistol you choose and what it says about your daughter.

As her legal guardian if she were to shoot someone you could be putting yourself in legal jeopardy not only civilly but criminally. Allowing your underage kid to CCW isn’t a great idea.

This is truly the best option for a 16 year old female

Hell, I think everyone should at least start with that
