G5 Champ will get 1 spot

& looks like it will be 2 of these 3 in the ACC championship

9-2 UVA
8-3 SMU
8-3 Pitt

Keep in mind Virginia is the one that lost to NC State & Wake Forest, but is still 6-1 in conference

ACC should adopt a rule like the American conference & just let the highest ranked teams play in championship game

All 3 those teams above have 1 loss in ACC

It would be chaotic if all 3 lost

Miami @ Pitt
VT @ UVA
SMU @ Cal

ETA: if there was a 6-way tie at 6-2 it would Duke vs Miami in ACC CG

I say bring back the BCS. It has its flaws every now and then but having two undefeated teams playing for all the marbles is more hype than a 2 or 3 loss team battling with another 2-3 loss team.

4 team playoff (6 max) using the BCS system to determine who gets in would be elite.

We saw a 2 loss SMU get blasted in the first round last year and we somehow think a 3 loss SMU is going to be deserving. So dumb to have this many teams in the playoffs to where you are guaranteeing there are scrub teams with no shot at winning a title make it.

Tbh I don't think a single ACC team deserves a spot in the playoffs this year.

Agreed. But the issue is not 12 teams, the issue is letting in scrub teams at 10/11/12. There is no world that makes sense where #12 Vanderbilt gets kicked out for Tulane just because.

They need to get rid of the (5) Champion auto bids and need to go with overall records > conference record for standings.

You are still enticing teams to schedule mediocre oppositions without making these changes.

I'm watching the 1995 Michigan/Ohio St game right now and it really makes me hate the expanded playoffs. Not only did Michigan ruin their national title hopes but OSU didn't even get to play in the Rose Bowl and had to go to the Citrus Bowl as a top 5 one loss team. Now it wouldn't even matter though.

If they lost to both of those teams they can't be 6-1 in the conference.

Incorrect. ACC has a weird rule where you can schedule a conference opponent that was otherwise not in your schedule rotation, and it does not count as a conference game. It would be like LSU playing Georgia this year, and not counting as a conference game

I’m almost certain it’s win and you’re in for SMU and Virginia

yea did some work on the acc tiebreakers calculator from mred

SMU and UVA win, they're going. can't make a scenario without them if they win.

Pitt needs to win and one of them to lose and they go.
Miami needs to win and have 2 of SMU, Virginia, and Duke lose and they go.
Duke needs to win, SMU to lose, and Miami win and they go. Duke also wins the 6 way tie scenario.
GT is in the worst spot of these teams
