Mechanics of the OT: 2010 F-150 issue

Recently my F-150 has been making a weird noise while running. It doesn’t squeal like a belt would but it almost sounds like a blower maybe? More airy sounding.
Also, in the last day or so, when I’m braking at a light sitting still, my dash beeps 3 times and I get a picture of a battery on my dash. This isn’t the check engine style light. It’s on my screen.
Any idea?
Taking it in Monday but just curious.

A video would help.

Did you try turning it off and turning it back on?

Serpentine belt or alternator is my guess.

Yeah with sound.

How much to fix if taken to a shop?

No idea. You can visually inspect the belt to see if thats it and can get alternator tested at auto parts store.
If the belts never been changed it’s a good idea to do so anyway. Alternators are a good part to start with learning auto repair skills on many cars as they are often easy to access, relatively cheap, and only a few bolts etc to remove and replace.

Do a Google AI search: f-150 beep 3 times battery light on
The three beeps and battery light on an F-150 indicate a possible security or system alert, and it's crucial to also check the battery and charging system. The beeps can be caused by an open door or tailgate, a weak key fob battery, or a security system issue. The battery light points to a potential problem with the charging system, like a failing alternator, which requires immediate attention
You should also try performing a manual reset of the battery monitoring system.
Search YouTube on how to do this.
As for the first issue (noise). Yeah need a video with sound.

Changing the belt is super simple. You can do it yourself.
Go to a parts store and have them check the alternator.

Sounds like a secondary cooling fan is kicking on. If your coolant isn’t low, it’s likely an electrical gremlin making it kick on randomly.

Check for a loose ground wire.

Can you go through the screen and see the battery voltage while the truck is running? Should be around14 when running. Or you can put a volt meter on the battery.

What year are we talking. If it sounds airy, follow your air intake line and see if you have any coupling failures, especially if it’s got a turbo. Is it your radiator running full blast? Check coolant levels, thermostats can stick as well.
For the electrical piece, check your heavy hitters- battery, alternator, fuse box. Any trouble on startup? Does it act sluggish at lights or when stopping?
Is it throwing a code?

The warning lights are more than likely the alternator. My sons 2010 was throwing some weird warnings on the dash but the truck ran fine. Alternator finally went out and I replaced about 3 months ago. Hasn’t alarmed since. I’d bet it was weak and causing the issues.

Alternator going bad
I had a similar sound on my 2010. Was a squealing sound near my front passenger. Replaced my wheel bearings and serpentine belt. Sound still there.
Finally the alternator died outright after 3 more months and had to tow it back for replacement!!
What’s a mechanic for?
Check your alternator voltage output

My 04 F150 is too dumb to beep (other than low fuel). Did get the battery light. Even after new battery. Alternator fixed it.
