The only objection I have to that top ten list would be Nirvana and Sly and the Family Stone. I would kick both of them out and replace them with The Who and The Eagles. I might tweak the order some also, moving Sabbath higher and U2 lower.

U2 fricking sucks
Agreed, but enough people like them that they probably deserve a top 10 inclusion.

Billboard sucks. No Doubt ahead of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Missing: Beach Boys, The Velvet Underground, and Ramones/R.E.M./CCR/Van Halen/Aerosmith...take your pick. Bands that need to GTFO to make room: Queen (several good albums not one great one), Fleetwood Mac (only if you consider the early days and that was pretty much a different band), and Sly and the Family Stone/U2/Nirvana...small catalogues that didn't really stand the test of time (except for Nirvana but again, small catalogue).

Nirvana in the top 10 and AiC not even on the list

These lists are always dumb. Paramore doesn’t belong on this list at all and damned sure don’t belong ahead of areosmith

Get Queen, U2 and Sly & FS the hell out of the top 100.
... and the Kinks, and the Who should be 3 and 4.
Rage against the Machine, the Velvet Underground, Green Day, The Ramones, Mana, Radiohead, Heart, the Talking Heads and Blondie are ahead of The Band, huh?

Chili Peppers way too low..and where is Skynyrd???
Posted on 11/21/25 at 5:25 pm to dawgfan24348
Good grief. Rolling Stone might have done better and they are dogshit.
Posted on 11/21/25 at 5:32 pm to dawgfan24348
Nirvana shouldn't be near the top 10.

Lynyrd Skynyrd not ranked at all? They are so much better than most on this list.

I've never heard anyone try to justify Sly and the Family Stone as anything more than a group from the early 70s that had 3 or 4 tolerable songs.

Ranking bands seems a little bit silly... seems even sillier to get worked up over it...
