Looking Back On BK's Refusal To Allow Alumni Back Into the Fold....

A buddy and I were discussing how absurd this was last night, but then after a soft buzz, it got me thinking about it....
I'm ready for the downvotes, BTW...
Was BK really trying to keep the former players away, or was he just trying to keep one, possibly two former players away?
Think about it....
When BK was hired, a very well known, unapologetically racist alumni got on national TV, and despite being oppressed in a racist country, this millionaire broadcaster told the world "LSU just hired another ordinary white guy".
Now, we all know what would have happened had LSU hired a minority and ANY white broadcaster woud have stated "LSU just hired an ordinary black dude": the same person that made the comment above would have been on the twitter and tick tock within the day in tears lamenting how racist this country is and would have forced whatever network employing the white guy to fire them.
I have no doubt BK was also aware of a specifc alumni showing up and successfully dividing the team just two short years prior to him taking over.
With that, if you are BK, you absolutely can't have this cancer in your locker room if you are trying to build comradery. You also can't just go and announce, "yeah, I don't want this specific person destroying the program again". You cannot make that move. So, what is your only option? At that point, if one can't come, then they all can't come just to keep the peace...
Anyway, downvote away. I appreciat your time as always.

He apparently did the same thing at ND

I think its been overblown. They just asked that you notified them 48 hrs before showing up. Pretty reasonable

Why? You didn't.
This is a dumb take amid an ocean of dumb takes on this board.

First off you can say Ryan Clark's name, it'll be okay.
Second, I don't agree with your breakdown. I don't think BK told ex players they can't come but instead brushed it off like he'd prefer if they didn't pop in on occasion, but never outwardly said ex players aren't welcome.
And it would be totally fine to ask RC not to show up while letting other alumni drop in.
I think you've built this up in your head into something it's not.

I didn't know this, but again, I think there were barriers that weren't there before for a specific reason.
Just something fun to think about during the offseason. I am sure future coaches will handle it differently. Just not sure how you would approach someone that you know their whole schtick is to divide everyone they come in contact with.

He was afraid former players would see through his facade. Dude is a total fraud.

Well looks like I fit right in.

If I were called an "ordinary white guy" directly on national TV by someone with that background, I would not approach them at all. I would avoid them like a plague. You aren't going to win any PR battles with someone who plays with a complete double standard on what they can say.

Nah, it will leave my brain like a fart in the wind in an hour. Just bored....

why cant you make that move and ban an individual?

I get the idea that it could make sense in the context of trying to assert a sense of his own discipline and control. Sort of like the coach in the movie Hossiers kicking all the townsmen (who were likely many former players of the school) out and saying "our practices are closed."
The problem is, Kelly's idea of disciplice and control was actually shite.

Agreed and you won't find a post by me on this site praising BK for anything. I was thrilled he was fired.

Honest thoughts & I’m not trying to be a dick… this is a hell of a stretch.
Take a lap & go blow off some steam on the poli board.
Or don’t, because shoehorning politics into apolitical situations is a telltale sign you’re already consuming too much political media.

This shite not worth a downvote, just a stare.

No need to dance around his name. Ryan Clark is a piece of shite that I wish wasn’t associated with LSU. Also Brian Kelly was a lazy insecure dickhead. Not mutually exclusive.
