A fire that forced an evacuation of the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belem on Thursday was under control, officials said, although it was unclear whether delegates would return immediately to continue negotiations.

Brazil's tourism minister told reporters at the venue that the fire was under control and no one was hurt, but that he did not know whether delegates would be able to return today or Friday to the part of the venue where the summit negotiations were taking place.

Whelp...

Oh the humanity!

More carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere. What will we do? Private jets and now a fire. Just think how much lower global temperatures would be without COP.

WTF are they "negotiating"? How to spend other people's money, while lavishly spending it on themselves at all these "summits".

They chopped down 100K trees to build a highway to the place. Nice, real nice.

They have outdone themselves from the last summit where they held it in a cavernous AC facility in the middle of the desert.

Wow, I did not realize they had a fire in Brazil caused by climate change.

The hypocrisy is beyond belief... that anyone at all takes this seriously is a stain on humanity.

Damn. Too bad it didn't consume them all.

Would save the world gazillions of dollars if John Kerry and others were burned beyond recognition.
