by everybody, but doesn’t know what that is. He’s the 1st coach to be in this exact situation, where all the new changes have put a lot of pressure on making a decision earlier than ever. Sure, it’s great to be wanted, to have leverage, to have 3 schools willing to make him the highest paid coach in college football (for now, anyway). It’s good to have options.

But sometimes, too many options can be a bad thing. I remember this show called “Brain Games” (not the old HBO one. “Brain Games…are…ooooover.”) This one came on the History Channel or something, and it explored human psychology, and why the brain does some of the things it does. Or why it makes us do some of the things we do (like buy large popcorns and cokes).

But one segment I remember was about ice cream flavors. They did a study and it showed that people tended to be less happy with their ice cream experience if they had gotten it from a place that had a ton of different flavors rather than a place that just had 2 or 3. Because instead of really enjoying the option we choose, we are more concerned with the “what if?” of the ones we didn’t.

Usually that’s subconscious, but I think Lane is probably very aware of it and is going back and forth due to the “what ifs” of making the wrong decision. Or maybe he’s convicted in taking the Florida or LSU jobs, but truly doesn’t want to hose/hurt his current players by having to leave them before a playoff run. He just never imagined he’d ever be in this position.

Whatever the case, he’s going to wind up with a great job at a great program, making a shite ton of money. I’m not going to be crying for him. But I still do feel bad for him, because I don’t think he’s playing games or stringing anybody along on purpose. I think he wants to do the right thing, but doesn’t know what that is, because nobody has navigated these particular waters yet. And there may not even be a “right” thing under these circumstances anyway.

Keep that energy up because we’re gonna have to do a lot of defending if we hire him.

Did you hear about how Saban helped him get the Aflac duck on the field though?

You don't have to feel sorry for him.

I don’t know if it’s the right thing. He’s trying to coach the rest of this season and also have LSU and UF waiting for him when he’s done.

No more than Brian Kelly. A lot of fanbases already hate us, who cares. I'm fine with us being the villain.

Why, do we have a new development? Lol. I’m starting to lean Ole Miss as well. But if they perform like shite in the playoffs, they’ll never forgive lane for this circus

No I’m saying if Lane makes it to one of the premier jobs in CFB (LSU) I don’t think we’d have to worry about him jumping ship, again.

I’d like to believe you. But I’ve seen Sexton try to get money from Alabama through Texas. Even after all that he did. I think everyone needs to prepare that if we’re hiring Kiffin, we can expect him to always want to get the most money. And I’m fine with that, if he’s the best.

He's trying to have his cake (finish the Ole Miss season) and eat it too (coach LSU afterwards).

The problem is Ole Miss looks like the bitch in this scenario, which diminishes their profile as a football program.

Lane only cares about Lane.

That’s bullshite. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

The college football calendar has been fricked for years. Not Kiffin or LSUs fault. And I’d say the same thing if the roles were reversed.

IF they landed Lane, they would have to be very worried if Texas or Alabama came open.

Eh. He's been doing a lot of trolling for someone who is "just trying to do the right thing"

His stock will never be higher. He’s worked for years to get his stock back up this level. His star could start to dim as early as next month. Remember last year when Shane Beamer was an energetic up and coming young coach that players loved?

Not making a decision may be hurting his team more than actually leaving at this point.

He wants to coaching his team and then decide but looks like they will force him. Just let him coach it's their best team ever.

Of course he knows what is right; it’s stay at Ole Miss and deliver on the implicit promise he made when he signed that contract.
