I need new tires for my F150 FX4, and I currently have Nitto Recon grapplers. This is the 2nd set of Nitto's that have shifted a belt, and they will not warranty them. I will never own Nitto again. Does anyone have experience with the BFG KO3s or Toyo A/T3's? I am up for just about any brand other than Nitto. Tire size it 275/65/20. Looking for a comfortable and quiet ride, I am not interested in any M/T tires. I do some off-road driving at my camp, but nothing extreme. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have been running Toyo At3's on my F250 for the last year. I actually like them. I am about to hit 65k on them and think I will be able to get to 70k before replacing them. That said, I think I am going to run Toyo RT Pro's this go round. They are a little more aggressive but not MT aggressive. I don't really have any complaints with the AT3's though. I am running 37x12.50 on the stock 20" F250 wheels and have had zero issues with them staying balanced or anything like that. I just have them rotated at the dealership with every oil change at 5k miles.

I should add, mine are bigger and more ply than your's would be, so they do ride a bit stiffer than the factory stuff that came on the truck. They were pretty quiet until recently. Still not bad, but they have definitely gotten louder as they have worn down. I think that is fairly common though among most AT or more aggressive than street tires.

Looking for same for GMC Z71. Was recommended Falken wildpeak by local tire shop and they had good reviews online. Curious if anyone has any experience with them. Had Toyo before with good results.

I put Goodyear DuraTrac Wranglers on my 24 F150 earlier this year and am extremely pleased with them thus far.

I put 80K on the last set of KO2s on my old F150 and could not pull the trigger on the KO3s with my last tire purchase simply due to being pissed off at BFG for taking the best all-terrain tire ever and trying to make it better. Something tells me there will be issues on the KO3s at some point. I could be way off base, but that was my thinking when I was tire shopping.

I had Toyo AT3s on my old truck. I think I had 30K miles on them before I sold it. They still had a ton of life left, I’m sure 60K wouldn’t have been a problem. They did not get loud, they were comfortable riding and good on gas mileage (I ended up getting 6 plys).

I had duratracs before that. They held up good but got loud probably around 20K miles. I think I had close to 50k on them and could have put more but I couldn’t stand the noise anymore.

For what you’re looking for, the Toyo AT3 is what I would recommend.

I am not opposed to the KO2's, if they are still a solid tire.

Man that sucks and somewhat concerning for me. I have 4 new 33x12.5x20 Recons coming in Thursday to replace my Ridge Grapplers I currently have that are the exact same size for my F-150 FX4. The Ridge Grapplers I am replacing have over 70k miles and probably could go a little longer but I'm about to start traveling for hunting season and don't want to chance it. When it came time to replace them, they have performed so well that I never even thought about another brand. I did go with the Recon vs. the RG for a little better highway performance but never was not going to go with Nitto.

If you are looking at Falken, check out the Sumitomo AT - same tires at the wild peak 3 just cheaper.

I seem to have been the only one who has had these issues with Nitto. Everyone else I talk to has had good luck. These recon grapplers have been good other than the shifted belt, but now I cannot rotate my tires because that tire causes too much shake on the front end. I had trail grapplers on my jeep and had the belt shifted on one as well. The tire shop told me Nitto is known for this, and also the tires crack and dry rot. Not sure how true this is, but it certainly played out that way for me. For that reason, i will never buy Nitto, which I took the warranty out also, and they will not honor it. These recons have about 25k miles.

They just announced a recall 2 weeks ago for a bunch of nitto and toyo tires manufactured with certain codes on the tires. You sure your's weren't on there? It had to do with belts.

Nitto and Toyo are owned by the same company FYI.

I'm going to be needing new tires on my truck here in the not too distant future as well. I've been looking at the hercules tires, have heard great things about them.

Wife has KO3’s on her 4Runner and no issues so far, probably has around 10,000 miles on this set. Size are 285/70/r17. She previously had the KO2’s with no issues for 60,000 miles I believe.

I had some KO2s on my F150 FX4, 285/65R20s, 10 ply. put 75,000 miles on them. Could have put a few more, but during covid I knew I'd need tires soon. Sold the KO2s for $150 and my tire guy got in a set of Toyo Open Country AT3s in BR, 295/60R20, 10 ply. so far I have about 73,000 miles on those. I just bought a set of take off 275/65R20 goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner ATs from a coworker for when the AT3s need to go and because of current price of new tires.

I would get either the KO2s or Open Country AT3s again if I hadn't found the goodyears.

I was hopeful, but it is not my tires that are recalled, I just got off the phone with them.

I have a 2018 F-150 and had a 2012 before this truck. I owned several sets of Cooper ST Maxx's, which are probably a bit more aggressive than you're looking for. I liked them a lot, but they would get a bit loud around 50k. I got a deal on some Toyo RT Trails and have about 8k miles on them so far. I like them a lot. They're a little quieter than the Coopers and not quite as aggressive. Would recommend either tire depending on what you're looking for. I'd say the Coopers are a little more stable but a bit more catered to off-road use, whereas the Toyos are a better hybrid tire and don't feel as aggressive on the road.
