For me, LSU should pursue the guys below starting with Brohm. Who realistically is on your short list.
Jeff Brohm (HC at Louisville)
Kenny Dillingham (HC at Arizona State)
John Sumrall (HC at Tulane)

Very small chance he comes to LSU so everyone needs to come to peace with that.

Heupel
Eric Morris
I don’t believe Dilli would leave. I know why some feel he might, but I believe him.

Why would these coaches leave their alma mater?

Lane should be the fallback option after Dillingham

I'm sorry but you don't send your family somewhere for a "small chance" you're going someplace this take is asinine even the most hard core troll attempts that would be insane level. He's considering LSU and Florida very seriously not some plot to get more money from ole Miss he's already goy that.

If Lanning really is off the table and he seems to be then after him it’s
Freeman
Dillingham
Sumrall
Lea
Morris
I actually don’t think we’d be able to get freeman or Lanning but life is crazy.
For every person that likes Drinkwitz there’s seem to be 3 people that hate him.

Dillingham is my choice and that could absolutely fail spectacularly, but the great coaches left probably aren’t coming, and I’d rather give it to an up and comer than overpay for Drink

Save the cash on the coaching hire and invest it in top players. Safer in the long run.

I would like heupel a lot but don’t feel like I’ve heard that he’s being considered by anyone

I’m not in dillinghams corner. He’s a good coach but is still very young. I don’t love coaches who didn’t play college football it’s always been a bias of mine. You need to be able to relate what those guys are going through, whether you were a good player or not I believe you should’ve had to put that work in to be leading them.
Not to mention, his team is not even currently ranked. You don’t get the LSU job like that. Playoff appearance last year or not, you need to cut your teeth a little more than what he has.
Also why I don’t like drink.

Frank Wilson. I know downvote me but I like the way the players are all in for him.

I'd handicap this at 40% Ole Miss, 40% Florida, 20% LSU.
There's a chance, but he has it made at Ole Miss. He's a god there, they've committed to NIL, they put up with his bullshite, Oxford is a good place to live, MUCH less pressure year in and year out, he's proven he can make the playoffs there often (should've last year and if 12 teams the year before he makes it), etc.
His wife's family is in Florida and I believe some in Gainesville specifically. He grew up idolizing Spurrier and he has been open about his love of the state of Florida. Big program where the right coach can win a title.
Then there's LSU. Maybe the most commitment to NIL and best chance for a title, but no personal connections and Baton Rouge, unfortunately, is just not a great place. It also might have the most pressure and the shortest leash.
So 20% at best in my mind. He's feeling it out because that's what adults do when they're given big time job offers. I just think we're running in third place and our fans are going to get their hopes up.
I also think if he chooses somewhere else, we can still get a good, young, hungry coach like a Golesh and give them a "prove it" contract.
