And Jimbo was a done deal (which he really was a done deal, a very very good client went house shopping with his GF) and we got Ed O. With Kiffin being a done deal it’s obvious it’s someone else.

Yes, and I remember a softball coach give an introduction speech and quit the next day. So, this is almost like the old recruiting days with the drama.

yes, and DALSU called it
but your timeline if wrong
jimbo was a done deal in 2015! not 2016. deal fell through and we were stuck with miles 4 games into 2016.
herman was a done deal in 2016 until he told alleva to F off and mr. i am the search didn't wanna search no more and named O head corch.

Kiffin without the baggage. Actually has past success
Here are Lincoln Riley's major successes during his time as head coach at Oklahoma (2017–2021):
- **Overall Record**: 55–10 (.846 winning percentage)
- **Big 12 Championships**: 4 consecutive (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020)
- **Conference Record**: 39–9 in Big 12 play
- **College Football Playoff Appearances**: 3 (2017, 2018, 2019)
- **Playoff Record**: 0–3 (lost in semifinals all three times: 2017 vs Georgia, 2018 vs Alabama, 2019 vs LSU)
- **Heisman Trophy Winners** (both QBs he recruited and developed):
- 2017: Baker Mayfield (1st overall pick in 2018 NFL Draft)
- 2018: Kyler Murray (1st overall pick in 2019 NFL Draft)
- **Heisman Trophy Finalists**:
- 2019: Jalen Hurts (2nd place)
- 2020: Spencer Rattler (finished 7th in early Heisman watch before injury/struggles)
- **Back-to-Back #1 Overall NFL Draft Picks** at QB (Mayfield 2018, Murray 2019) – only coach in history to produce consecutive #1 picks
- **Bowl Record**: 3–3
- Wins: 2017 Sugar (vs Auburn), 2020 Cotton (vs Florida), 2021 Alamo (vs Oregon)
- Losses: 2018 Orange (CFP vs Alabama), 2019 Peach (CFP vs LSU), 2018 Cotton (vs Texas)
- **AP National Coach of the Year**: 2018
- **Broyles Award Winners** (nation’s top assistant):
- 2018 – OC Mike Leach (no relation)
- Actually: 2015 (as OC under Bob Stoops) and 2018 (HC) – but 2018 was Cale Gundy? Wait – Riley himself never won Broyles as HC, but his staff produced top offenses
- **Offensive Rankings** (consistently elite):
- Never finished lower than top 4 nationally in total offense or scoring offense in his five years
- 3× #1 in total offense (2018, 2020, 2021)
- 3× #1 in scoring offense (2018, 2020, 2021)
Summary: One of the most successful five-year runs in modern college football history in terms of regular-season dominance, conference titles, and QB development, but criticized for 0–4 combined record in CFP and the 2018 Cotton Bowl against top competition.

The smoke is pretty thick with Lane. If Moscona is talking about it, it means he was given permission by those associated with the search, so there is a degree of legitimacy to it. Lincoln Riley was mere menthol puffs compared to this.
