Kiffin's OM contract runs through 2031.

He doesn't have to hurry up and sign OM's new extension if he doesn't want to. His current deal is for 6 more years.
Sexton and Kiffin can slow roll it and listen to LSU and Florida, along with any NFL teams.

That’s all well and good. Ole Miss gave him a deadline. The good news for all 3 schools: we’ll all know in the next 5-7 days and everyone can move on one way or another.

Everyone knows Lane holds all the leverage. He does not have to do anything at all. What’s Ole Miss going to do? Fire the best coach they’ve had in 50 years to hire Tulane’s coach?

They definitely can do that, but they will be openly accepting taking a huge step down in coaching ability.

That kind of cracks me up. They are going to fire him without cause and pay his buyout because he wouldn't publically recommit to his existing contract?

OM knows he’s going to leave, and with all of the big openings right now they are just trying to get ahead, and not be left scraping the bottom dwellers for a new coach.

And by shitting the bed, OM put Sexton in the cat bird seat with the NFL, LSU, UF, and OM in a bidding war for the next two weeks. Personally, it's beginning to look all too familiar, with LSU being played to get an exorbitant salary from the NFL and UF, or a lifetime deal with complete control from OM. LSU gets left with a nobody HC, and the revolving HC carousel continues every 3 years. Very reminiscent of the 1980's save Arnsparger.
