Great hire for VA Tech. VA Tech has a 250 million dollar football donation coming in evidently.

Just because it's in Blacksburg, doesn't mean the area is historically black. Christiansburg was historically a lot blacker and had some real problem kids in their schools even forty years ago. (In college we renovated a school for a community center and then tried to help the underprivileged kids with their reading. Third graders mostly wrote four letter profanities in their books.)

The name has nothing to do with the black population and everything to do with the "Black" family that owned the property and deeded it to the incorporated town after the state recognized it. It was named after them.
