What to do with this old AC vent?

Don't need it anymore. Need to make it not look like arse. Any ideas? This is for a rental property.

Most people would remove the grill and associated equipment and then patch in replacement flooring and do their best to match the existing finish.

Not a bad idea. It's an airbnb, though. So trying to figure out a way where it doesn't look like total arse.

Outside of laying new floor in hall, sanding and refinishing and hoping it matches, I don't know of much else.

Do you have a closet that has the same floor? I’d use that to repair the clearly visible hole in the hall and put something else down in the closet. I think that’s the only thing you can do that would be cheap.
