Look at what $52.4M being taken from the parish wide collected library tax piggy bank is going to: Bottom right corner highlighted in yellow. 38.1M of 52.4M is going to benefit the City of BR. 72.7%!
Vote yes if you want Parish wide taxes to pay for city of BR obligations. Would you like it if it was to bailout Central or Zachary? Probably not. You would say Central residents need to pay for Central city issues.
Vote NO. All the politicians and groups saying yes all get a piece of the stolen funds to get on board. Don’t let this fool you.
And for the next 10 years these diversions to go into the General Fund. That means they can spend it on whatever THEY want and change their minds whenever THEY want.

The reason to vote no is because it extends COA and Library taxes.

I don’t much care either way, but on another thread, didn’t someone say that over 60% of “general parish taxes” come from Baton Rouge? If so, isn’t it a touch misleading to cry about the “72%” without noting that we’re talking about a relatively small difference in ratio? Or did I misunderstand that on the other thread?

Big reason why I’m voting no. These greedy fricks always want to lock in 10 or 20 year millages.

I recommend voting yes, as it’s the only way to maintain the current level of government services without a tax increase.
THRIVE is a solid compromise that keeps the city and parish government functioning while we push for deconsolidation down the line. It’s not the perfect solution to the mess Broome left the city, but it’s a way forward, and it helps trim the bloat at the COA and libraries to boot.
Too many critics are letting the perfect be the enemy of the good.

I would say it’s a matter of fairness and not perfection.
Do you consider fairness to be the enemy?

Wrong! Most of it goes to City of BR police pensions that are calculated on OT!! That’s insane to support that position. You want to maintain bloated pension obligations incurred by one city that they want the whole Parish to pay for? You think it’s fair for the people of Zachary to pay for City of BR Police pensions?

Link?

Well if you’re going with that argument then give every city their proportional share back. BR gets theirs back for their issues. Same for Zachary, Central, St George.
If you’re gonna split the pie, then split it fairly. Why should only BR get money back?

You are the one lying and misleading people. That pic I posted is not mine. It’s from an Association of multiple subdivisions. All I post is the truth to counter your lies.

Are they lying? It doesn’t say to vote for or against. It’s all facts.
They have 113 subdivisions as members. 70,000 homes.
They want people to know the facts before they vote.
You vote however you want. People need to know the facts though. Not half-truths and smoke and mirrors to sell it.

And I will vote how I want. Thank you.. living in America is great.
You trying to be informative once can be seen as helpful. Repeated battering of the same information, to the point of being annoying, is just that, annoying.

Then Stop opening the thread and asking me questions. Which I’m happy to answer in any event.

You can’t even interpret your own graphic accurately.
You just make up shite that’s not supported by your graphic.
