Lane is another Brian Kelly (minus the murder)- a good coach but will not be elite. Hell, At least BK made the 4 team playoff. Kiffin had a great team last year with a cushy schedule and still couldn’t make the playoffs, despite his guys faking injuries every game because they were too pathetic and poorly coached to man up and play.

Lane is a sham. If LSU overpays for him we’ll be having the same coaching changes board conversations in 4-5 years when we annually fall short of expectations.

There’s no doubt he’s a good coach.

I simply don’t think he’s the right coach for LSU at this moment in time.

If he gets hired at LSU, I’d absolutely be cool with it and support, but I certainly won’t be shedding any tears if he ends up elsewhere, because I have sincere concerns that he’s not what LSU needs right now. And to take it further, I don’t think he’s a “championship coach”… whether it be at LSU or any job.

I believed this during the Kelly hire. I don’t believe this now. He’s done more with less at Ole Miss, so much so we have been on the fence about us actually beating his teams over the last few years. None of those games did we go in believing it was a guaranteed win for LSU. Lane is a good coach.

My concern is his history at Tennessee and USC and his occasional mysterious coaching decisions that blow up.

He’s not even the same person he was 15-16 years ago.

So who would be your right coach for LSU at this moment in time?

I think a Lane Kiffin era at LSU would be very similar to the Sean Payton era at the Saints. Always entertaining and on the cutting edge, a fun program locally and nationally. Does some things that drive you mad but mostly a consistent winner. Wins a championship but leaves some meat on the bone. All in all I’d sign up for it.

A coach with energy/edge and gonna work his arse off and instill toughness and physicality back into the program.

Dillingham or Campbell are at the top of my personal wish list. Lanning in a dream world but we all know that’s not gonna happen. Golesh further down the list, but IMO he fits the mold too.

I keep telling AU fans. We need to get a coach, not win the podium. My preference is a defense minded guy.

They’re in different age brackets

Lane is 5-6 vs the top 10 at Ole Miss and 3-1 dating back to 2023.

Also showing how little ball you know. Lane did that in a direct response to it being done against us. He went completely overboard to prove a point. Proved his point and the rule was changed. He’s playing chess and you’re playing checkers on that one.

The more this goes along the more I want Frank Wilson. He is Louisiana.
A proven recruiter, a leader of men. From what I've seen he carries himself well and comunicates well with the media and the players

I disagree. I think he’s still growing as a coach and adapting to the landscape. I think he hasn’t reached his full potential yet, unlike BK.
