Hello everyone, heading to Charleston for the first time next weekend for a concert in North Charleston. I’m traveling solo and looking to tap into TD’s collective wisdom as i've done successfully in the past.
Concert is Saturday night, and I’m flying in either Thursday or Friday and heading back Monday. I am leaning toward staying downtown. Any recommendations for a good 4-star-type hotel that has a little scene/social energy would be appreciated.... older crowd 40ish up, single ladies.
Same ask for restaurants: places with good food, a solid bar scene, and not packed with college kids. Open to higher-end spots as well as more casual places.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Charleston Place is a very nice place to stay. Pricey though.

Renting a car or planning on walking/Ubering your way around? That will influence some dining recs
In town I would suggest Fleet Landing for a good meal on the water and either Kaminsky's on North Market or Carmella's for dessert. I'll leave others to chime in on Hall's, SNOB, Poogans, etc.
Have heard good things about Lewis Barbecue but have yet to eat the there. We are partial to Melvin's/Bessinger's but those are either across the Cooper in Mt Pleasant or across the Ashley on Savannah Highway or Folly Beach Road. Rodney Scott was good when we went but I've heard it can be hit or miss. If you go get the whole hog sandwich to get some pork skins.
If you have a car you should check out Bowen's Island Restaurant. Great view over the marsh and good food. We also liked Page's Okra Grill in Mt Pleasant, but they just recently got the busted passing off imported shrimp as fresh/local.
If you make it as far out as Isle of Palms, Acme is good. Boathouse at Breech Inlet is ok for a slightly higher class of menu options but we've been once and that was enough for us.

Hotel Vendue
Nice hotel right in the middle of town with a couple of nice bars, including one on the roof.
Many excellent restaurants nearby, including
FIG
SNOB
Anson and
The Peninsula Grill.

Husk: the Charleston restaurant. I don’t care if people say it’s past its prime. I went recently and it was wonderful
FIG is good.
Chubby Fish is an absolute must but you’ll have to wait in line early to get table for later. It is worth it.

At the Vendue rooftop bar?
Single ladies in the 50ish range?
I don’t know. That is a little young for me.
They actually do attract a lot of younger people in their 20s and 30s also. 50s as well.
