Per Feldman behind an Athletic paywall.

quote:

The Rebels have an open date after playing Florida and before the season finale at Mississippi State. Open dates late in the season can be a great time to get a contract extension done and announced. That timeline would certainly work for Ole Miss.

This situation seems to be trending in a positive direction for Rebels fans who would like to keep their coach, but one word of caution: One industry source said there was at least some interest in Kiffin among decision-makers with the Tennessee Titans.

Any Scenario that Kiffin leaves OM is a win for LSU regardless where he lands

I see that as the least likely option. The Titans are a mess.

If it’s NFL the Dolphins and Giants offer more opportunity. Better markets and rosters.

Lane seems like a college guy now.

If there’s a roster in worse shape than the Saints it’s them. If Lane returns to the NFL, he’ll be smarter about the organization he ties his fate to this time

Never thought I'd say this but I wouldn't be heartbroken if the Dolphins hired him.

Exactly.

Conversely any scenario where he trolls LSU until the last minute does lasting (multi-year) damage to LSU, a permanent opponent to OM.

LSU will give him a deadline and if not signed, move on and leave lane behind.

He already allegedly swerved LSU once when he was supposed to come here as OC under Orgeron but took the FAU head job instead. Wouldn't surprise me if he did it again to go to the NFL.

Good god Jimmy Sexton has gotta be calling the 4 hour erection hotline for how much interest Kiffin is drumming up.

That would be the worst option for him
