Typical Louisiana circus in a state and flagship institution that is considered a cesspool by so many metrics. I'm sure those candidates will in fact say, "you're damn right, I am NOT one of them".

We'll go get that desperate up-and-comer or past-their-prime guy and hope for the best.

Who is a big name coach? Kiffin and Saban were never coming regardless.

Just relax. Quit judging something that is completely out of your hands.

What does that mean? This is a message board and we're fans. Anyone with eyes, ears and half a brain can observe and judge.

This.

Kelly was the anomaly...not the norm in LSU coaching hires. Saban, Miles and Orgeron were not "big names" at the time of their hires.

This cluster would probably give pause to guys who would have to consider leaving their alma maters (Key, Dillingham, Brohm, Lea), but it won't prevent LSU from getting a good coach. Of course, identifying that good coach will be the key.

Throw the money out there and watch the takers accumulate.

There it is. It's always easy to peg the bottom feeders of the message board world. Thanks for stepping up

Well now they know if they get fired their buyout will have to be litigated for. How enticing.

Lane to LSU is nothing but a fan/pundit talking point ripe with speculation based on perceived "fit". We have 0 idea who the committee has as their frontrunner. It could be someone nobody is talking about.

I never thought they would go the route of courting or hiring Lane unless Lane came to them wanting the job. If I'm Lane Kiffin, I wanna see how far I can take this thing at Ole Miss first. I think a blowout loss in the 1st rd of the CFP will have a lot to do with whether or not he signs his extension or wants to go elsewhere.

I would also say the same about Lanning. Oregon is not a good football team and their schedule is a complete joke. They needed OT to beat Penn State, got their teeth kicked in by IU and struggled vs Iowa. If they make the CFP, I'd have them on blowout alert in game 1. Bad losses might make these two start second guessing on whether or not they can win titles at their current schools.

I mean being terrible at your job has never been grounds for cause. If you sign someone to a guaranteed contract and they’re awful at the job, then that’s your mistake for hiring them and you have to own the consequences.

Then…. Come in with an attitude of I’m not getting fired. I’m building a consistent winner.

There are lots of excellent, hungry coaches making $2-$4 million a year that will jump for the chance to make $8-$12 million here.

A lot if you need to stop worrying so damn much.
