If anyone remembers other tidbits from the meeting, please chime in.

Zach Yorke has an older brother that plays in the Majors that Jay recruited at Arizona. Jay said Zach is a better hitter.

Sheerin struck out 19 batters in 8 innings.

Fontenot up 99mph.

Sheerin, Fontenot and Guidry are getting first look as closers.

Evans, Cowan, Schmidt, Paz, Ricken, Williams, Moore being looked at as starters but said he would probably stretch out a group of 10. I believe Rizy and Noot could be in that group but that's coming from me, not Jay.

Said Cooper Moore was maybe the best pitcher this fall, which surprised me.

He said we will probably use an approach of the starter going 4 innings before turning things over. Overall he said he is pretty happy where we are at for pitching.

Thank you, nice recap. I’m super interested to see how they use Noot, I get the feeling that the way he finished last year he will get some weekend innings. I just don’t see him coming back to pitch midweek.

I think you covered things pretty well Wild. I think Jay left out Noot as far as guys being stretched out. I think Rizy will be more of a back end bullpen guy.

Garcia, Plog, Lachenmayer all relievers. Not surprising there.

Paz getting stretched out in spring was a little surprising to me, as I figured they might ease him into this season as a reliever post injury. I guess he’s just too good not to see if he can be a starter or 3-4 inning piggy back guy.

-Jay said that on his White House visit the first thing President Trump asked him was if he had any players like Shoei Ohtani.

-When asked a question about Vitello going to Giants and if he would consider the same move, he said that he is very very happy where he is at and that he enjoys developing young players like Ethan Clauss and Jack Ruckert and joked that Ohtani likely wouldn't benefit from what he can offer coaching players up.

-When asked about roster limits changing and whether it would increase the odds of more players playing two ways, he replied that on the upcoming signing day, LSU will sign 2 two way players but that it is so hard to do successfully on this level. He cited the the example of the move to have Paul Skenes only focus on pitching being the best decision for LSU and the player as witnessed by the results after allowing Paul to only focus on one thing instead of both.

-When asked a question about what his thoughts on Grant Fontenot's development were, he said that he had to convince Grant to come back as he could have gotten drafted had he decided to go pro despite only throwing 6 innings all season. Jay said that he will be a major contributor to this staff but it's not yet determined exactly what his role would be and if he would close or be longer relief.

-Jay said that freshman William Patrick is the fastest player on the roster. He cited his time in a drill (I think the 60 yd dash) but I couldn't hear the exact number.

-Said that Zach Yorke has the best sense of humor on the team and joked that he wasn't as fast as William Patrick.

-Confirmed that the unknown player who pitched in early scrimmages was indeed John Shandar a walkon who they have been evaluating and who is a great kid. Jay said that LSU is the only place in the country where a question about a walkon like Shandar would be asked in a forum like the coaches committee.

-Said that they are bringing Gavin Guidry along slowly and that he was outstanding in his recent appearance, striking out nearly every batter that he has faced.

-Jay said that Sheerin and I believe Fontenot will be used twice for one inning per appearance for every weekend scrimmage session to see how they handle being used multiple times on short rest in a weekend.

-Jay confirmed that the Jamie vs Chief series would be this Friday at 5 pm and Sunday at 1 pm. Said he considered a late start on Saturday after the football game but decided not to. I believe that he said that they would practice the next week and have one more "purple vs gold" scrimmage to complete the fall practice session.

I believe he said Patrick ran 6.28 in the 60. I can’t recall an LSU player running that fast.

Thanks Solo. I have a hard time hearing the Q&A sessions, especially the questions from the crowd.

In past meetings, I think they tried passing a mike around for questions but it didn't work efficiently. Sometimes coach Jay repeats the questions prior to answering.

My old ears don't exactly cooperate with the format, regardless of how loud the speakers are.

Did he also say when asked about the new AD that he had been invited and had dinner at Verge's house?

I think he was referring to the governor's mansion visit.

Thanks. That makes sense. That was another question and answer that I hadn't heard.

Someone asked about how the home side bullpen was working out and Jay said he liked the set up of not being able to see who was down there in the pen. Also said he wanted fans to stay on the opposing bullpen.

He brought up the WV pitcher having a panic attack for the 2nd time at a meeting.

JJ said that the Oklahoma series at the Box has been moved to a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday dates.

Scholarship limit is at 38 right now. He said it's complicated, but it will eventually work down to 34. He will entertain signing two-way players to help with that. He said he had two way guys at Nevada and Arizona.

In jest, said LSU is a Baseball School.

As our entire athletic department burns Jay stands as a beacon dominating. This staff is going to be nasty.

If Jay wins it again this time using a different style it would be absolutely wild. I think he is already the best but pulling down 3 titles with 3 different styles would be hard to say he isn’t. Of course by spring we might have two dominant guys that go longer.
