Not paying Lance Heard costed many people jobs and the athletic department millions.

They should have matched Tennessee offer to Lance thinking about the bigger picture. I don’t believe lance left because of Will Campbell but he left for money. If you match the offer and tell him wait a year he most likely would have, who would not. He would get starter money riding the bench for the future. I understand hindsight is 20/20 but look at all the millions we lost by not matching.

Heard is not good either. He gets beat in pass pro a lot like our tackles.

He’s much better than what we have

Plus the state gave us a 5 star tackle and we lost him because of money. We probably said well let him go we could go to the portal. That way of thinking is not good pay your instate stars first and foremost at all cost. The transfer portal is only for where the state is lacking.

He wanted to play in Campbell’s position.
So you are saying we should have benched Campbell?
Cause that’s the only way he would have stayed.

We have a bunch of 5 star OL who suck arse anyway. I don’t think it would matter that much if he had stayed.

Problem is Heard wanted money AND to start at left tackle despite having a first round pick already at that spot and another NFL pick at right tackle.
I think if it was just money, we might have made it work. But he wasn’t going to force Campbell or Jones from their spot.

He was awful at Tenner last year.

Money talks bs runs a marathon LSU could have made it work. If they gon pay BK 54 million to not work they could have made it work with Heard. If you pay a man right he would have waited.

I bet Nick Saban would have made it work no doubt.

Maybe but I’m not so sure. I think our tackles would look a lot better with Tennessee’s coaches and Heard would look a lot worse with our coaches.
I still think that, while we may have the most talented O line, they are talented enough that with decent coaching they would be SIGNIFICANTLY better. It’s not like we have not recruited well there, Davis is just a terrible coach and has been coupled with terrible OC and scheme.

Ok but Saban has absolutely zero relevance to this discussion

What exactly were we paying him before and what exactly did Tenn pay him?
You are talking like LSU was screwing him. LSU is only guilty of letting him believe that he could beat out Campbell at LT.

Heard wanted to play LT
LSU had Will Campbell
Heard didnt want to wait
So he left
the end

Why is that LSU’s fault. It is possible, even likely that the coaches told him otherwise and wanted him to play guard for a year before taking over at left tackle but he and his handlers refused

They should have brung him the bag, I guess.

Why do you people really believe he left because of Will Campbell. He told that stuff to BK because he’s a competitor. He understood Will was going to be a top ten pick. You people are ridiculous. Tenn offered more money and a starting spot that’s why he left. If LSU would have matched Tennessee offer he would have rode that bench like a G yall tripping for real.
