Major U.S. health insurance companies have reported significant and, in some cases, record profits, while simultaneously receiving substantial government funds through programs like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Medicare/Medicaid.

• The top five to seven largest for-profit health insurers have raked in more than $371 billion in profitssince the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010.
• In 2023, the seven largest for-profit U.S. health insurers' revenues reached $1.39 trillion, with total profits of around $70.7 billion.

This is a tough scenario, and middle ground needs to be figured out in the battle between who is more important investors or customers.

If they are recording record profits any government subsidy should be paid back before profit is recorded.

This is a ponzi scheme where you take one person’s money and give it to another as profit.

Then they turned around and threw billions into the laps of the legislators who funded it and media advertising for the MSM (Lying Media) so they would all do nothing but praise ACA.

Media advertising was how they "hid" the MSM payoff for we all know it is the doctor who makes the decisions and doctors do not watch TV.

Campaign funds is how they "hid" the payoff to the legislators.

Money Laundering 101 is a good book and it will explain the above.

There is no middle ground where you give out trillions in "free" care and it's affordable for the minority left to pay for all of it.

The more government is involved in subsidies, the less competition there is. The insurance companies need to vigorously compete for customers and to do so across state lines.

This is funny. This is the same fricking scenario that gave us Obamacare. Democrats fricked up healthcare so bad prior to 2018, and blamed Reublicans for their frick ups. So they pass Obamacare after we all knew it would frick the system. And now it’s 2025 and the left is blaming the right, yet again, for their policies.

Obamacare was designed to usher in single payer. Nothing more. And single payer will be the death of the entire health industry. But, the Democrats will get control over the people, wit an iron fist and you will be told what you can eat, produce, grow. All decided hy the same commie fricks that destroyed the system.

Obamacare was designed to collapse the system and groom the public to want a single payer/universal health care system.

Health insurers knee this and their agreement to go along with it was that they would get to make obscene profits until the collapse happened.

And here we are...

I agree. Why I said it needs to be found. Not that it has been

Since more people are using health insurance now, a better metric of their profits would be helpful.

I’d like to see average profits by age group (percentage per patient) of customers receiving treatment. And average profits by treated ailment. Both over time. Before ACA through 2024.
