As much as I hear about the inexperience and lack of talent and development on the O-Line, why does Davis hold on to his job? Seemed like he was pulling in good individual talent at one point but the buck stops there. The Line as a whole never functioned as a machine. Damn they actually suck in that room.

He gets plenty of criticism. He's a good recruiter, and that helps secure your job. In today's NIL world, that's becoming less important. If you're asking why he isn't fired right now, it's b/c you rarely see a position coach fired during the season. Brad Davis won't be retained by the new staff so I don't know what you actually expect to happen in November. You could fire him today, but that doesn't change the personnel. The o-line is bad, and it isn't going to get better this season.

I mean what coaching is he doing? Just have them coach themselves at this point. Throw a youtube video on

Criticism from whom? He’s been getting crucified here and elsewhere by the fans and rightfully so.

If you mean the administration and head coach the only thing I can figure is he must be considered a golden calf because of where he’s from and his recruiting. I don’t agree with it but it just be’s that way sometimes.

Part of it was

He coached 39 players with JKirklin as a qb.

He was a good recruiter.

Thats all out the window with wood gone.

The governor has enormous say in the program and university.

Kelly wanted to fire him last year and 2 weeks ago but was told no. LSU administration was adamant on keeping Davis.

He will be let go, at some point you just need coaches to finish the season.

I'm not so sure the personnel is as bad as it looks and therein is my issue.

I mean we had four dude's last year on the o-line who made NFL rosters and we could not run the ball last year either. I think we just had a really bad combination of a run scheme tailored for a running QB - but without a running QB and an o-line coach that from what I can see is not very good at developing his position....it's a bad thing.

But yeah I agree, firing him right now serves no useful purpose.

After last night I’m not so sure the o line wouldn’t be better without any coaching right now

I’ve met Brad several time. Nice guy but I’m ready for a change as much as anyone. But I will say this. It’s hard to judge him solely on the last two years. By all accounts Brad Davis was a good O-Line coach before he came here and we seemed to be fine before Joe Sloan became the OC.

And I don’t think Sloan is the only problem. Neither Sloan nor Davis are controlling the weight room. That may be one of the bigger changes that needs to happen
