2 shy of the NBA record for points in a quarter.
They’re also missing Tyler Herro.

Hornets on pace to score 132 and lose by 80, so dumb

Heat only up 72-69 at half. Shot their wad

None of these scoring records are impressive. I saw on the bottom line during the Spurs game that damn near every stat of note was a scoring achievement.
This whole era is diluted when it comes to points.

This is a genuine question and not a hurr durr I don't watch NBA post, but I truly haven't watched an NBA game in probably 5 years. Has the offense/shooting just become that unguardable or do these guys just not even pretend to try on defense?

I’d say 25% great shooters, 75% atrocious defense. Unless it’s playoffs, the effort level is pathetic

Nah you're wrong, bruv. The effort level is still there. There are millions of $$$ on the line. The rules have changed. Less hand-checking allowed, and also no illegal defense, so iso ball is less effective.

I don’t watch regular season much but think the spacing, rules, and shooting are the perfect combination of creating more points.
I watched 2nd half of Rockets/Spurs tonight. Every time the Rockets made a run, another random Spurs shooter was hitting nothing but net.

It's crazy how just about everyone acknowledges how terrible the NBA has gotten yet it keeps getting worse every year.
I guess the financials are still holding up but you gotta figure that has to crack at some point.

Data says otherwise. Key is getting it on national this year.

Ironically OKC plays tough defense and when they do the screaming Karens complain they are getting away with playing defense.
A majority of posters here are closet fans. I see the same posters in most every NBA thread claiming they never watch it yet are in every thread bitching about it. You name it they bitch.
Just like SGA and FTs. If you took away every FT for every player SGA would still lead the NBA in points. Last year too. Then they say he foul baits. Every player in every sport exploits rules to be the best they can be. How many QBs slide late to get a flag.
SGA had 4 FTs last night thats 2 trips to the line. Yet scored 30 points and never played 4th qtr. if you look up stats he has a lower FT rate than most of the top players going back decades. But some twitter bots say its bad and non fans read it and believe it and presto, now its fact.
The OKC team plays physical defense and people bitch about it. Yet then people bitch players score too much. A majority of posters have not sat down and watched a full game since Jordan years. They look at stats and read some online postings and form opinions based on that not from watching
