Maine voters resoundingly defeated a ballot initiative on Tuesday that would have required them to show a photo ID during future elections and that sought to rollback aspects of the state’s absentee voting process.

This is how you know that they are completely aware of the fact that they heavily rely on massive fricking voter fraud to win elections.

Take those 4 electoral votes and put them, you know where.

Sounds like maybe voter ID was also wrapped up in absentee vote issues.

I didn't see the wording of the ballot question, but did pick up on this in the article:

quote:

Titcomb accused the opposition of making false claims that Question 1 would end absentee voting. And he repeated previous accusations that Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, a Democrat, enabled that line of attack by mentioning the voter ID provisions at the end of Question 1 after a list of proposed changes to absentee voting. He also suggested that voter ID will become law in Maine at some point despite Tuesday's vote.

Maybe the question was tainted?

Question 1: Citizen Initiative Question 1: Citizen Initiative

Do you want to change Maine election laws to eliminate two days of absentee voting, prohibit requests for absentee ballots by phone or family members, end ongoing absentee voter status for seniors and people with disabilities, ban prepaid postage on absentee ballot return envelopes, limit the number of drop boxes, require voters to show certain photo ID before voting, and make other changes to our elections? A “Yes” vote is to enact the initiated legislation. A “No” vote opposes the initiated legislation.

Yikes... that's a LOT of questions in one question! Six different questions and one nefarious "other changes".

I can see why it failed.

People can have different ideology, beliefs, economic opinions, yadda yadda...but If you don't believe that one should have to identify themselves to vote..

1) eliminate two days of absentee voting,
2)prohibit requests for absentee ballots by phone or family members,
3) end ongoing absentee voter status for seniors and people with disabilities, 4) ban prepaid postage on absentee ballot return envelopes,
5) limit the number of drop boxes,
6) require voters to show certain photo ID before voting
7) make other changes

almost as if it was designed to fail, it 's an omnibus ballot measure that would probably fail anywhere

On the "other changes" alone I would have voted no... never give the government a blank check when you don't have to.

Whoever wrote the proposed question did NOT want it to pass. They cannot be that dumb. Sabotaged on purpose.

You can tell a democrat law maker worded that question and got the exact result they were seeking.

They know they have to cheat to win. It is truly amazing to watch this happen.

I could be wrong, but the way I read the article is that the Secretary of State worded it.

A democrat.

But I could be wrong... although I doubt it.

Yup. One very poorly worded item. It's like auto-correct took over and the writer just said "Screw it."
