Neither is going to be the next coach. No shot.
1) We are not promoting another interim to head coach. We JUST did that and ultimately fired the guy
2) Sumrall just got his arse kicked by UTSA and will probably lose again this weekend…also…if you have heard him in a press conference…he is not the guy

Who on the current staff stays, that’s the question.

1)He also fielded the best team in college football history.

2)You're not going to find an undefeated coach.

Sumrall is not as good a coach as Willie Fritz is!

Ngl I didn’t know a ton about Sumrall till after Kelly was fired and he was hyped up as the favorite to be the next coach. So I do my hw on him and was impressed how quick he turned around Troy and then I thot before the UTSA game that he was doing a good job at 6-1. He’s also a guy that comes off charismatic in interviews so I felt he had the personality. Then more and more Tulane fans starting saying they’ve been playing sloppy in terms of racking up penalties , poor redzone execution and poor tackling. Those are major red flags as well coached teams are not bad in all 3 of those areas. Then I finally watched the UTSA game and it was a horrendous showing.

Giving up 30 points at halftime despite being a defensive coach is an awful look. If his team got overwhelmed by UTSA athletes how can I trust he will be able to gameplan against sec athletes. Better talent could help sure but the execution was bad for a guy getting hyped up for big time SEC jobs. Beyond bad on field his sideline body Language was lacking there was a lack of fire. I don’t think he’s ready.

we also just hired a guy that was the winningest coach in the history of Notre Dame and ultimately fired the guy.

before those two we hired a guy that semi-successful at a smaller school and looking to move to the big leagues. and ultimately fired the guy
