New Jersey = Florida
Virginia = Tennessee
NYC = Jacksonville
Do you ever see Florida, Tennessee and Jacksonville turning blue? Last night was the same thing. People honestly thought that NJ, VA and NYC were going to turn red? Republicans made these deep blue states and cities very competitive where they should have all been dominated by Democrats and they weren’t.
The only race that I am a little surprised about.. I thought NJ might have a shot at flipping red but I’m not really surprised at all about what happened last night and neither should you be surprised

What you should be concerned about are the following 2 areas:
The under 30 vote
Latino vote
These are 2 areas where Trump gained a lot of ground in 24 and they went hard blue last night
There is a happy medium somewhere between the sky is falling and sticking your head in the sand and ignoring trends

candidate quality matters. VA was a mess bc of it. have no idea why the VA GOP decided a primary wasn't needed

The problem is that MAGA became cocky and complacent and simply did not get off their asses to vote. That’s it.
Posted on 11/5/25 at 8:47 am to FLTech
That's part of the problem
I highlighted the other 2 demographic problems
If you want to stick your head in the sand about it, that's your choice

My head is not stuck in the sand.. my head is being realistic. It’s not a big deal for the Conservative movement that last night happened. republicans made these races far more competitive than they should have been
And you people on here know for a fricking fact that there was mass cheating, bomb threats, running out of ballots, Madami’s name on the ballots twice, etc etc etc
What’s great about it… now Trump’s team will get to go through these elections results and find the cheating and nip the bullshite in the bud before the midterms
Trump is already calling out California

Cope. The vote shifted massively. Every single county in Virginia shifted blue
Pennsylvania was a blood bath

If you are realistic, you better hope Trump gets his head out of his arse, stops playing around with foreign countries and addresses the economic problems here.

Would be very difficult for Vance to win without carrying Pennsylvania IMO

Also, last night was another example of the fact - that we have seen pretty much every election in the Trump era - that MAGA voters do not turn out in sufficient numbers when Trump is not on the ballot.
Democrat turnout falls off far less than Republican turnout.

Which means he will have to be heavily involved in campaigning for the actual mid terms

I think at this point we see that he'd rather sit it out and gloat about his importance after the fact

Exactly. Pretty soon the massive ballroom will start to go up, Trump will build the arch to himself, all food aid will be eliminated and private heath insurance will be unaffordable. We are inches away from a Trump paradise. Surely the people will love the gold filigree and marble floors and the lavish parties Trump will host for his billionaire friends. Everything is looking up.

Because democrats hate the poor and won’t vote to open govt up. Good luck

Exactly. CNN had Texas as pink/neutral at one time.

The cockroaches have joyously re-emerged this morning with leftist-progressive victories in some of the bluest areas of the country and in a state where a huge percentage of government employees live.
The logical flaw is that these people think they beat Trump. Mamdani ran against Cuomo...who ran as an independent. The real loser in these blue city are the old school Democrats. The leftist-progressive AOC arm of the party didn't beat Trump this election cycle, but the old guard of the Dem party. That bunch is unapologetically socialist and is ready to get their hands on "other people's money". Interesting times coming to NY/NJ.

These are both true. Also true is that while the numbers aren't exact, Trump lost New Jersey and that state had a lot of folks move away (ranked 4th for outbound migration) which has been a trend for awhile. I'd argue that a significant portion were red voters and that NJ will be blue for sometime, that said, the race was closer than expected (even though the candidate had been rejected twice before). Same for New York and thus New York City. Independents and republicans are leaving blue states for redder pastures. What's left? Blue state candidates will have to go further left to compete and win.
Virginia was an area with a population upswing, but the Alexandria area will keep that state blue for some time to come. Heck even George W. Bush didn't carry Va.
The vote Pa wasn't a surprise, 20 years ago was the last time they rejected a sitting justice.
So yes, there is work to be done. PA needs to be shored up and Rs need to learn how to win when Trumps not on the ballot. I would argue we've learned that people will still vote based on the economy and the welfare of themselves. After that, the Rs need to pound the 80-20 topics (transgender transition for kids) where they are the majority.
