the notre dame thing is fricking ridiculous. how many teams would have the exact same record (or better) as them if given their schedule? 25? maybe more. what are we doing?

ND is stealing a spot from a more deserving team.

they lost to both good teams they played, and obviously ALREADY HAVE 2 LOSSES. they had to beat a mid tier big 10 team to secure their bid. im not saying they couldn't win it but I mean you gotta do something to be in...and Miami blows

ND is 15th in strength of record (which doesn’t take into account margin of victory/defeat or how you play, just your record against your strength of schedule). When it comes to the advanced stats, ND is 5th in FPI, 7th in SP+, 7th in FEI, 6th in F+, 6th in Sagarin…

Seems like 10th is an appropriate middle ground ranking between that 15th strength of record and the near-unanimous top-7 advanced stats/metrics.

Louisville has 2 ranked wins on the road and the other loss was to #14 Virginia in overtime. Utah has not beaten a ranked team and has 2 losses. Yet Utah is ranked so high?

Makes zero sense

At first I was really confused on why Virginia is here. But apparently they are 8-1. Of course they have zero marque wins, but that's still a very impressive season for that program.

I listened to most of the Sirius XM College Sports crews today and all of them predicted Oregon to be around 6th.

Glad to see the committee do the right thing and put them behind Ole Miss and BYU.

ND played three currently ranked teams, and lost to two of them.

USC beats Miami if they play this weekend.

It’s still new, but pretty soon people will catch on that these big week 1 games are great if you win, and not a killer if you lose them. Instead of running scared, teams need to start scheduling them more.

Notre Dame is a totally different team than week 1, and if I were handicapping a rematch with Miami, I would have ND -6.5 right now.
