Not only because they shite on CFB fans ... but election coverage ratings are gonna suck bigly for them.

quote:

As of Tuesday, November 4, 2025, a major carriage dispute between YouTube TV and The Walt Disney Company continues, leaving over 10 million YouTube TV subscribers without access to ESPN, ABC, and 20 other Disney-owned channels.

The blackout, now in its fifth day, began on October 30 when their previous agreement expired without a renewal.

Disney has requested a temporary restoration of ABC for Election Day coverage, but YouTube TV rejected the proposal, citing potential customer confusion from a one-day reinstatement, and instead proposed restoring both ABC and ESPN immediately while negotiations continue.

YouTube TV emphasized that viewers have alternatives, including free livestreams on ABC News’ YouTube channel and other platforms like Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and ESPN+.

Current Status: The dispute remains unresolved, with both companies refusing to yield. Disney claims YouTube TV is not paying fair rates for its content, while YouTube TV argues Disney’s demands would raise prices for consumers and benefit Disney’s rivals.

Recent Developments: On November 4, Disney asked YouTube TV to restore ABC for election coverage, but YouTube TV countered by requesting permission to immediately restore both ABC and ESPN while negotiations proceed, referencing a similar arrangement made with Fox earlier in the year.
Subscriber Impact: YouTube TV has offered a $20 one-time credit to subscribers if the blackout continues, and has already begun providing $10 monthly credits to some users.

Sports fans are missing key events, including Monday Night Football and college football games broadcast on ABC and ESPN.

Industry Context: This is the third major carriage dispute for YouTube TV in two months, following similar issues with Fox and NBCUniversal.

Past disputes have typically resolved within a few days, suggesting a resolution may be imminent, though neither side has shown willingness to compromise yet..

That is incorrect. It will benefit Disney's partners, like Hulu+ LiveTV.

So Disney, like the good progressives they are, wanted to briefly restore coverage on my account so they could push election propaganda?

Wow, how nice of them.

Why don't they practice what they preach and share the wealth?

But it's not. People are not making the switch yet and Disney is bleeding money daily right now. People are using an antenna for ABC and Youtube and/or cracked streams. There's shite all over Reddit, X, etc., how to watch ESPN channels for free.

Correct. However, if YouTubeTV has to raise their rates to account for what Disney is demanding, it places Hulu+ LiveTV (owned by Disney Streaming) in a very advantageous position against YTTV.

Got it?

Disney is the spawn of satan. I sure wish Disney as a whole would just fall into a sinkhole. Such a shite company full of pedos.

This is not the climate to try to monopolize streaming. Especially when you're a niche network. There are way too many options.

This is true.

Currently YTTV and Hulu+Live are basically same price, if you also have Disney +. YTTV is cheaper without D+.

If YTTV gives in and increases prices, will probably switch over to Hulu option. It would be a struggle though, YTTV has a better interface.

Both companies are evil.

It's ridiculous that local OTA television, which the broadcasters are licensed by the FAA and supposed to be there for the benefit of the public, and which is available for free using an antenna, is not generally available as a stand-alone streaming service.

Once upon a time, before streaming, you could get a channel package over cable of just the locals for like $7.00 a month.

Locast was an app that was generally free, although you got a better quality signal if you made a $5 s month 'donation', that received the signals on "your own attenna" and they would put in locations that had these massive receiver boxes with thousands of antenna, and then they would stream the locals to your TV' Locast app. The networks sued because they were not paying for rebroadcast fees, so they offered to pay that, but Disney/ABC and other broadcasters said, "Nah. We are going to sue you into oblivion because, "how fricking dare you beat us at our own game."

Locast lost and are no more.

I care nothing for streaming TV except for locals and sports. If I could get a $10 a month locals and the $40 ESPN package with Fox Sports, I'd be fine.

I refuse to give them my money directly. I will pay an incremental amount more and stick with YTTV out of principal...even though I am aware that some of my money goes to Disney for the ESPN part of YTTV.

I did. Fubo. Then will cancel when football season is over. Which is what I was going to do to YTTV anyway.

I consider football pay-per-view at this point. And it's the only thing I watch on TV.

You can do this if you set up your antennae through an AirTV.

I can access my local channels via streaming anywhere with no subscription cost.

ESPN App + Redzone + Antenna solved everything for me, and yeah I only do it for football season.

Bravo to YTV for telling them to screw off. As if there aren't 20 places to get the same slanted news
