In the 2 revenue sports he signed two subpar coaches to long term deals with massive buyouts and have no tourney/playoff appearances in 4 years to show for it. Isn’t that enough to be told to kick rocks??

We don’t want end up being Florida and have the same AD fail over and over again hiring football coaches while sitting on our hands just because the Olympic sports are decent

Landry shouldn’t have publicly humiliated him but if it took the governor sticking his nose into LSU athletics to get him out of here then so be it.

Woodward didn’t do his homework on BK.
So many previous coaches and players have come out post firing with not great things to say.

Woodward gave a retirement age coach a 100MM guaranteed contract to this man without proper vetting and expected the boosters to say “it’s all good man” when he asked them to pay up the buyout?

Also Woodward knew about Kelly’s work ethic and did nothing to change it. He instead put his people in places and tried to meddle in the program so nobody on the outside would know.

He deserved to be let go.

Hell yes. Football was fun in his first 2 years. With the constraints the Governor has put on paying coaches, he may be the only choice.

Agree a lot of people from Notre Dame said he had told them he’d only planned on coaching another three or four years.it was pretty obvious he didn’t have the juice anymore. He hired a name and a resume.

Woodward has a lot of friends around.
And fellow Democrats, it’s a political operation for them.

Are you really shocked?

A lot of it comes down to politics and Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Landry is tied to Trump.

Landry got rid of Woody.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

The Gays for Palestine crew now loves Woody.

Finding a basketball coach at LSU probably isn't easy. It plays 3rd fiddle here and I don't know how attractive that is to a top tier coach. You have to find a diamond in the rough (like Wade) because you're never getting a Calipari to come here.

The BK hire is more complex.

We were in a really bad situation overall, with roster deficiencies and disfunction throughout the program.

Scott went after a guy that was a program stabilizer who had been a consistent winner at a blue blood.

Given the other options on the table, it made sense.

The 10yr commitment is what ultimately killed us. But I'm sure Scott and Kelly both thought he'd never finish out the 10 and walk away after 5-7 if he'd won a title.

Even as someone who hates Kelly, I thought there'd be no way we weren't at least near the top of the SEC every year. So I can't blame Scott for thinking the same.

There really aren't. The "backlash" you are reading falls into one of two categories:

1. Democrats who hate Landry.

2. Miserable fricks who complain about everything. The kind that want Jay Johnson fired if he doesn't sweep a weekend series.

I'm not upset Woodward is gone, but if you are going to replace him with a former basketball coach who is currently at McNeese, that's not an upgrade.

Woodward made some hires that didn't work out. The best ADs out there have done the same. You can bitch about the buyout all you want, but it will be paid and won't cost you a penny. The ONLY reason you or I should bitch about the buyout is in the event that it prevented BK's firing, which it obviously did not.

As for Landry's involvement, it has to give any decent candidate pause to want to take the job. And I'm not just talking about Woodward beign fired. The AD reports to the LSU President. We all know Landry forced Omar on to the field instead of letting the AD do his job. Then he tried to force Woodward to re-hire Wade. To be clear, I would be thrilled to have Wade back, but it isn't the governor's job to tell the AD what to do. Any experienced AD, like Josh Brooks, has to look at this situation and laugh.

That makes sense because I feel like he was just riding out the string and didn't care about results.

It's ok. Landry humiliated himself and the Stare of Louisiana.

Fun fact. Baseball and Women's basketball do make money.

What part of Matt House's defense and costing us a NC trophy with a generational QB was fun?
