The post below about staying for the entire game, and the reasons listed for leaving, raised a question for me: because post game traffic is always in the top 2 - 3 reasons for leaving early, what is a reasonable approach or tactic enforcement officers could implement to make traffic flow better/faster?

The key word is reasonable.

As a somewhat similar comparison, I've been to a couple of shows at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Just as with Tiger Stadium, people arrive at their own pace and time, from various locations across the city, and the traffic is manageable. However, when a show ends, 18,000 people leave all at once, with probably 15,000 requesting a cab or Uber ride. Needless to say, it's a cluster, and a person can easily wait 45 minutes to an hour for their ride to arrive.

So with that many people, and a limited number of resources (roads & cabs), be it football or cab/Uber rides, is waiting inevitable and just a part of the process?

Honestly, that trolley line down Nicholson to downtown that Kip wanted, but Broome nixed could help a lot.

You could quickly move thousands of people off campus to downtown and disperse the traffic a good bit.

I know it's not feasible due to cost, but I've always wished we could have a bridge from LSU to across the river and have lots of parking options there as well. Would greatly help with anyone heading West after the game.

BR just doesn't have the infrastructure around TS (or in general) to deal with 100k people. It is what it is.

Use downtown as parking. Have a pick-up and drop-off location. People can use bars for tailgating and food.

1. Would need several busses to transport
2. Use a dedicated route to get busses back and forth (maybe River Road)

This is done at UCLA. Parked in Old Town and too the bus in. After the game, they had a route for busses. Bus line was long, and we waited maybe 10 minutes. Need a place for people to park that don' t have a place to tailgate or don't want to go out too early. This could also help downtown restaurants and bars.

A people mover like they have in Disney world on top of the levee that is constantly moving to take people both directions to giant parking lots

Awesome that we're still having infrastructure threads amidst such a disastrous season. I wouldn't worry about too much traffic for the remaining home games.

I honestly dont understand what the problem is for MOST people. There are 4 SEC games a year and maybe another "good" out-of-conference game. Are people really that inconvenienced for MAYBE 4-5 times a year for LSU football??

Challenges: River cuts off 40% of physical exit routes, lakes cut out additional paths to exit, and exiting north puts you into downtown chaos.

That being said, need higher commitment to counter flows at all cost for 2 hours after games. Anyone who moves toward campus from start of 4th to 2 hours after game must sit in parking lot. No turning around and blocking traffic. Nicholson must flow all lanes out of campus. Same for river road, all the way to casino.

No reason EVER for someone to be traveling toward university near end of game.

I have been to A&M and UT games, much faster exits.

This. It's simple physics.

I mean, Burbank goes from 5 lines of contraflow to 2 lanes in less than a mile.

Maybe they should keep at least 4 lanes of contraflow until you reach a little closer to Bluebonnet. That would help, especially if you allowed the left lanes to exit to Highland or Starring.

Also, why havent we added a Ferry landing closer to the stadium? Just have a few ferries ready to go at the end of the game to shuttle some of the traffic away.

Or let's have the real discussion. Most of the free parking is on the West/South side of "campus". Might want to future proof this by adding additional parking North and East of campus. Would at least take pressure off of Burbank and River Road which probably sees close to 70% of the traffic.

This ^^^ there are a few options to put a trolley or rail to parking spaces but the infrastructure was a problem when the city/Campus was constructed and its damn near impossible to improve now due to lack of land to improve the infrastructure.

Man I can only handle so much at one time. Kelly, Woody, new AD, new coach, BOS shuffling, the gov getting involved. Can we schedule traffic discussion for next month's topic???????????? Please.

Designate or build a ride share lot so all traffic leaves campus. If you’re an uber and you didn’t arrive in the lot prior to 4th starting, too bad.
Also, come up with a better ccntraflow plan. Leaving Florida westbound lane of Burbank was completely empty. No one coming towards campus except for an occasional car. Why not use that for outgoing traffic?

I generally like the idea but it has to merge back together somewhere.

So you are really just moving the bottle neck

Yeah but at least you’re dispersing some of the crowd into a longer section before the bottleneck. I’m no civil engineer, just a thought. Maybe have the left two lanes exit at Starring, then the next one Bluebonnet and the fourth continue on as it turns into Seigen?

Yes.

Head back to your tailgate, enjoy a little more time with your friends while you let the traffic sort out then get in the road. Likely same amount of time to get home than if you left towards the end of the game but much more enjoyable.

aTm and Ms State do it right. Granted both are college towns and better infrastructure but most park all over town or in case of gigantic aTm, all over campus and everyone rides busses close to stadium. At Ms State their shuttle take you from 10 feet outside the stadium to points all over Starkville. Assign designated parking spots and drop off pick up points off campus, shuttle people who are typically walking 30 mins to free parking anyway.
