Illinois Rep Joe Sosnowski says Illinois Democrats are opening the door to begin taxing Americans on their retirements, 401k and pension plans

Democrats have these additional taxes planned

- Netflix and Hulu tax
- Amusement tax
- Going to the movies tax
- Additional sales tax
- Sporting events tax
- Concert tax
- Going to Great America (theme park) tax
- $2 billion more for mass transit while buses are running empty

Another tax, “Capital gains tax on ultra-wealthy right now. But the concern there is, you know, once you start taxing capital gains on the rich, maybe they're gonna start taxing people's retirements or 401(k) 's or pension plans. And it's a real concern.“

Im totally in favor of taxing these things. Do it. Im curious how it turns out.

Reduce taxes on certain foods and certain activities like gym memberships but tax entertainment stuff.

Nah. I am never in favor of new taxes. I vote no on every resolution that gets brought up. Too much waste as it is. Work with you already steal, Gov.

"Tax the rich" sounds great until you realize that by government math, you're "the rich".

The 401K seems to be a much bigger issue than any of the entertainment stuff

None of this would go over well with the general public

Democrats never knew a tax they didn't support. What they don't steal outright they tax.

So when does Kash Patel perpwalk Jack Smith?

It feels like they threaten with that so that when they "comprimise" and only tax the other stuff people feel like they won.

Of course they would tax people's 401(k) plans. They'd just say they're taxing cap gains on "the rich" and morons won't realize that includes a tax on the companies that hold their 401(k) plan assets and the companies that run the investments their plan is utilizing, which then absolutely gets passed on to those morons via fee increases.

They’re talking about taxing 401k plans potentially.

I’ve always considered that an “end of the Republic” type move at least at the federal level.

Yes. It would mean a few things. The first of which is that we are so desperate for revenue that we would resort to something that insane.

Because they are that ignorant that they don’t understand the correlation. 100% uninformed

Texas has reduced property taxes the last two years. That is the largest tax Texas citizens pay outright.

And recently passed the biennial budget for more savings to residents and increased spending on core infrastructure.

Texas budget article from Texas Tribune

quote:

Texas lawmakers signed off Saturday on a $338 billion two-year spending plan that directs billions toward hiking teacher pay, cutting property taxes and shoring up the state’s water infrastructure, after House and Senate budget writers ironed out their differences and won approval from both chambers on their final draft.

If you vote for anything with a D after the name. This is what you will get. They will always make ridiculous financial decisions and put the National party first on social issues. I wouldn't even trust a Democrat dog catcher at this point.

States have run out of ways to generate income. They can’t just hide their taxes through printing money. I think government may have a spending problem.

He's a member of the Illinois State Legislature - not the US House of Representatives. This would only affect Illinois, so I say let them go ahead and tax themselves out of existence (and out of electoral votes as people and businesses eventually leave the state). I am 100% for all these leftist loons destroying their own communities so the rest of the country can see what a shite-show it is when they start looking like Haiti.

Welcome to the DNC 2026

"If you're having fun you can bet your arse we're going to tax it".

Great campaigning lol
Pubs should call it the liberal sin tax and let that sink in.
