Miami was looking like the best team in the country earlier in the year not sure what happened, but I can’t believe these fans are already talking about firing their coach who is who has turned them around
It seems to me Miami would be a terrible place to coach because they play in a pro stadium off campus and they never sell it out like it’s never a big deal one of the weirdest fan base communities I’ve ever seen

Back in the mid-2000s I golfed with a group of older Miami grads and they all absolutely loathed the football program. They were right in the college football demographic, too. And apparently a significant part of the Miami student body are the children or grandchildren of South American political dynasties. Apparrently it's been that way for a hundred years.

Mario has a 61 million buyout if he is fired this year

At this rate, Lane's gonna command a $200 million contract. Every school is somehow going bat shite crazy over him and willing to fire their coaches to be the first to go after him.

Theres a reason Miami has almost no football history before Schnellenberger.
Even in the present, their football program is being bankrolled by 1 guy (John Ruiz).
It is NOT a football school at all. The university itself is more like Duke or Rice than Florida or Florida State. It is a small private school.

And every fanbase is convinced Lane is begging to leave Oxford and it’s definitely their school he’s coming to.

No school in Florida had success till the 1980s when population grew because of AC being affordable.

They actually have a handful of really rich boosters backing the program and use Ruiz to mouth off to keep the attention off them. Ruiz has a pretty sketchy past and I wouldn’t be shocked if he actually wasn’t worth nearly as much as he portrays.
You have it 100% right on the academic side. And honestly, that side could give a crap about athletics. As someone said earlier in the thread, it’s a very international student body.
Most “fans” of the program are trashy people from Miami-Dade and Broward county. Like Raiders fans or Philly fans. With absolutely zero ties to the university.
