Remember when…

The Saints were courting Cooper Kupp this past offseason and were 2nd to the Seahawks in getting him.
It’s things like that that make me worry about Loomis guiding a rebuild! There is no situation where a team like ours should be pursuing 30 year old players in the offseason unless it is 1 year/vet minimum deals to have mentors for young players.
I’m scared of what deals Loomis will make when he has valuable draft capital.

I said that would have been a retarded move too at the time.
Most of you don’t get. Loomis actually thought he built a roster that would compete for a playoff spot.
He has no vision. His ego is to big to think he’s shitty at his job and made a mess of the team. This roster should have been stripped down this offseason and we just take our lumps, but then have the ledger clean.
Instead he signed free agents and gave some of our guys ridiculous extensions and we still suck just as bad. So this year was just a total waste for nothing. Horrible year and still have cap issues.

Kupp would be the best WR on this team right now. The fact that Loomis didn’t OVER pay him means that he did this right. Going after Kupp was exactly the right move. I am not a Loomis guy, but he is a bean counter……pro scouts/ college scouts are the ones that direct him on who to pursue.
Kupp is someone that we should have pursued (for the right price)

No. He’s washed up.

The point is that it almost happened.

Kupp is on pace for career worse numbers in an offense with a good QB and OC. He looked washed up last year and it’s holding true. Rams usually are ahead of the curve with evaluating talent
Imagine the Saints giving him a 3/45 type deal. No one would be talking about the Vele trade

I hope you are being sarcastic.
He does check all of the Loomis boxes
Over 30
Injury prone
Getting paid on name recognition
Little to nothing left in the tank
Yup, I’m sure Loomis tried to give him a boat load of money…

If Loomis was good at his job, he wouldn’t have signed Cooks, Kupp or made that horrible trade and we’d still have our 4th and more csp room for next year…

Yes this team couldn’t use a top 100 player in the draft. We are good with our guy who has 5 catches 39 yards in 7 games. And there are like 15 rookie pass catchers who were drafted after the fourth round who are out producing Vele.
Kupp got $20 mil more guaranteed than Cooks but who is counting

to be fair, Vele dick teased with that produciton Payton got out of him. i'm sure that's what potential we thought we were getting.

The Vele trade is just ridiculous.

The sad irony is that Loomis was once very well thought of around the league…

It makes it worse. Payton is in the business of making scrubby WRs look good. We had 5-6 of them here

The Saints were two touchdown underdogs?

If you READ what I said……….”FOR THE RIGHT PRICE”. I also said that it’s good that Micky didn’t overpay (which obviously means that I feel that he was overpaid).
He would have been fine what he actually is now. A CONSISTENT receiver (when healthy) that could have been a leader to help mold some of these young receivers.
He is someone that can make the tough catches, which is something that NONE of our WRs (including our TEs) can do right now

This team was always going no where.
Zero reason to sign an over 30 receiver to this roster, unless it was for a vet min deal. And no way he was accepting that.
