Will it happen?
Will any B1G or SEC schools get dropped?
How many programs?
24?
32?
40?
48?

Who makes the cut?
Obviously IMO
Alabama Notre Dame Ohio State Texas. Michigan Oregon Tennessee Georgia. LSU Penn State Oklahoma Auburn. Florida Clemson Florida State USC. That is 16. Who is in the next 8 for 24 or 16 for 32?

A&M, Washington, Miami, BYU (Mormon eyes), Ole Miss, Texas Tech (if they keep dropping bags of cash), Louisville (maybe), Iowa(maybe), Arky(they have money), SMU(money). If this is also basketball then that opens it up to a ton more programs.

I would like to see relegation added to the mix. Would make damn near every game a must watch … at least for the fans of the teams playing. No fan base would have a reason to check out.

I don’t like any of this. I’d like to go back to regional conferences.

Two Super Conferences are coming. It’s Inevitable. The Media Networks are driving this. B1G and SEC with 24 teams each. I could see it being branded as the “CFP Top 48”. ACC gets purged by the B1G and SEC.

B1G East

Penn St
Rutgers
Maryland
Virginia
Maryland
North Carolina
Florida St
Miami

B1G Central

Ohio St
Indiana
Notre Dame
Michigan
Michigan St
Purdue
Illinois
Northwestern

B1G West

Oregon
USC
Washington
UCLA
Nebraska
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota

The SEC expands its footprint North and West:

SEC North:

Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
West Virginia
Virginia Tech
NC State
Duke
Missouri

SEC East

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Clemson
South Carolina
Mississippi St

SEC West

LSU
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Texas
Texas Tech
Texas AM
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St

I’ve always been curious…in the scenarios two super conferences form…I’d love to see a conference like this form…all city named schools.

Metro East

Boston College
Cincinnati
Pittsburgh
Louisville
Syracuse
Buffalo
Toledo

Metro West:

Houston
Memphis
San Diego St
Boise St
Fresno St
San Jose St
Tulsa

we already have a FBS and FCS in D1. Need a FAS league and then a promotion/relegation structure would be awesome. We already are setup with NIL to mirror the Euro football where top teams have no spending limit and have premier clubs but with a relegation structure you at least give the other fanbases opportunities at championships and promotions to the top level which would increase ratings on the sport. People say college football is dying yet with playoffs and more teams alive later in the season ratings are higher than ever

The clear winning model appears to be adding cannon fodder for your conference but they need to be in great TV markets and allowing extra bye weeks for your top teams.

Your super conference is a bit different than mine

You leave out Utah BYU Stanford Cal Colorado Arizona St Kansas and others. But not all will make the cut.

I could see the B1G adding Notre Dame and Stanford- Florida State and Miami - Arizona St and Colorado. Plus some ACC schools.

SEC does similar

I see 4 divisions of 7

Hard to balance perfectly for geographical consideration and strength

But this would be nearly ideal for a B1G version. Play your 6 division opponents and one protected opponent outside the division plus one opponent from each of the other 3 divisions = 10 games. Add a non super league cupcake and a SEC crossover game = 12 games.
2 byes. Division winners guaranteed in 20 team playoff
B1G West
USC
Oregon
UCLA
Washington
Stanford
Arizona St
Utah

B1G Central
Michigan
Michigan St
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Iowa
Minnesota
Colorado

B1G East
Penn State
Maryland
Florida State
Miami
North Carolina
Virginia
Ga Tech

B1G North
Ohio State
Notre Dame
Purdue
Indiana
Illinois
Northwestern
Rutgers

The Big isn’t taking FSU’s academics. Swap FSU to the SEC and Duke to the Big.
