Jeff Landry is not hurting the pool of candidates he’s UPGRADING IT.

Any coach who doesn’t want incentive based pay then he’s not the guy. We are not rewarding failure anymore and I got 54 million why we shouldn’t go back down that road. Maybe we won’t get Kiffin ( my number one pick) but we might get a young hungry up and coming coach to take us back to the promised land.

Anyone who thinks there’s actually going to be a contract with “incentive based pay” is dumber than Governor Clown.

Mike Gundy come on down

James Franklins buyout was 50 million. Unproven Billy Napiers was 20 million. Unfortunately it is the state of college football. So retard Landry is going to change that and in the process get no quality head coaches. Landry is a buffoon who just set our program back 10 years.

There’s the world how you’d like it to be, and then there’s the world how it operates.

But if this “young hungry coach” you describe gets an offered of guaranteed money he would take it… just like you would

Coaches want a high base and incentive pay
Posted on 10/31/25 at 7:33 am to Hahnville07
My suggestion is a $20 million contract that only pays out if you win a championship! We want WINNERS down here! If we can't get a coach with that, it just means he isn't confident he can win!

You’re so, so wrong. We’re going to probably settle for a C or D list candidate after this. Before the low IQ governor opened his mouth, we were by far the top opening in college football and had many saying we were a top 5 job in the sport. Not after this shite show.

LOL
So you want to come coach a team and knowing before you ever start, that you will not be able to call the plays? Certainly not respected as the one who is calling the shots.
Layers and layers of bureaucracy - all the way up to a meddling governor…
Yes, that sounds right up my alley.

Then you're not going to get the top notch candidate you think you are going to get. You're going to have to get an up and coming Coach who would accept that. No top candidate is accepting that deal.

I got 54 million why we shouldn’t go back down that road.

We won with a glorified DL coach and Les Miles why are we so scared if we don’t get a class A coach. Get whoever and give Austin Thomas the BIG CHECK not the coach.

Wait... you're paying that buyout? If so, your argument is valid. Otherwise, STFU about that.

We absolutely won't get Kiffin with a contract like that.

Or we get someone who drives the program in the ground. BK wasn't a horrible coach. He was fired b/c he wasn't living up to his large contract. The program is in good shape... better than it was 4 years ago.

Dear LORD, do not hire Franklin under any circumstances!

So not an upgrade even by your own standards.

Bingo!
There are definitely several high quality coaches in D1 programs that are exactly as you describe. Maybe we won't get the "headliner" coach, but I'm old enough to remember that very few people knew who Nick Saban was before LSU hired him.

People on here have no confidence. LSU makes coaches not the other way around.
