The Senate on Wednesday voted for a second time in as many days to knock down President Donald Trump’s tariffs — this time his duties on neighboring Canada.

The vote — the second of three votes on Trump’s tariffs scheduled for this week — passed 50-46, with four Republicans voting with the Democrats: Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rand Paul of Kentucky. Collins, Murkowski and Paul were all cosponsors of the bill. The same four GOP senators voted for a resolution to block the tariffs on Brazilian goods Tuesday.

Not just Canada, globally. This stop his use of tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. That means all his applied tariffs would not be valid.

Can they do this without it being a law? As in needing to be signed by the president?

Not including overriding a veto, which they clearly don't have the votes for.

Tell me when the House votes for this. This is just outing the RINOs and Swamp creatures, so far.

Not sure why they would need to create a new law

Don’t you realize Rand Paul and Lisa Murkowski know what is best the country and economy?! Just ask them! Rand is still trying to figure out what his position on immigration is but he definitely understands complicated trade agreements. Apparently, every country on the planet can look out for its own interests except the US. We are supposed to gleefully accept other nations tariffs and quotas in the name of “free trade”

I originally read this and was not going to post but then I thought not only were they exposing the four Republicans who should be booted out of office but it is another reminder that every single Democrat votes in lockstep which we seem to forget from time to time on every single issue

Rand also wants to make sure we know the name of ever fisherman transporting fentanyl as well so we can investigate them before blowing them up.

Does it though? Wouldn't the House have to pass it?

If it is already the law, why do they need a (non-binding) resolution? This is already before the courts, no?

Sorry, yes, if the house passes as well, not currently. Just saying that would be the end result.

Why do you say that?
If the law gives the President power to levy tariffs then the law would have to be changed requiring both chambers of Congress and he President's signature.

Does the law say the President does not have the power if and when the Senate votes to say he does not?

I'm getting sick of Rand Paul when he honestly used to be among my favorite politicians. He needs to seek counseling and therapy for his closet TDS.

I've not been following this closely, but I share your thoughts about his recent exploits. No understand but not like it.
