I've seen discussion (but haven't dug into it) about how calendar year 2026 allows ICE/DHS' deportation efforts to kick into hyperdrive, but I'm not sure what that mechanism is. It has something to do with provisions of the OBBB going into effect.
One would think that the FY 2026 that just began on Oct. 1 would allow for that, but I'll need to look further into it as to whether or not that's true.

Yep, 80% chance she's needed a new passport since then, but old one is still flagged and awaiting orders *salutes*

A quick cursory chat with the Machine indicates that since the OBBB appropriations for ICE/DHS are in the Essential category, the effects of the shutdown are minimal.
