Not letting Woodward hire the next football coach is a sensible move

Look, I’m not a fan of the Ragin Cajun and his wannabe Trump shtick.
But you can’t let Woodward overpay another “big name” fossil who’s on the downside of his career. Letting him do that is financial suicide for a school like LSU and a state like Louisiana.
Booster money needs to go to NIL and talent. Not some fricking agent looking to make a payday.

It’s not necessarily about firing Woodward as it is about him making it a public issue when he didn’t have to. Politicians dance around questions all day every day, that just makes us look unattractive imo.

Woodward can’t pay—over, under, or juuust right—anybody on his own anyway. BOS has to officially sign off on anybody and any contract. And the dudes actually footing the bill have to unofficially. I said this in another thread, but anybody who thinks Woodward went rogue and signed Kelly on his own is delusional. It took the signing off by several people more powerful than him. Remember all that talk about “alignment?”

The governor attacking LSU’s AD is not a good thing. It’s objectively a terrible thing.

There went the search. Go to USL to get your coach or just give the job to Wilson. When LSU loses and the stadium is empty his arse will be voted out. I may not live there but I can flat out tell you he very likely lost a family with almost 100 first cousins alone not counting their children and grandchildren that vote by pulling that shite.

He gave Jimbo a stupid 10 year contract. Gave Kelly a stupid 10 year contract, when he had zero fit here.

Well, at least now we know the coach will have Louisiana ties. I don’t know of any outsider that would want to deal with this.
I can imagine if the Governor doesn’t like the contract offer, he’ll try to go public with this also. He’s basically negotiating the next coach’s contract before any formal offer is made and constraining the board financially with what they can offer.

Why would Woody get his friend , Jimbo a big A&M contract , push for an extension on a big arse contract with a cattle ranch too ! then leave ??? Only to come here … and renegotiate another big arse contract … hmmm. What would be his benefit ? Just askin’ for a friend .
